Chapter 4 - CHAPTER III — PROTO-EXIST

Proto-Exist had no form.

No intention.

No voice.

It did not declare, "I exist."

It declared—without sound:

"I occurred."

It did not oppose nothingness.

It proved that nothingness was not final.

And proof, once established,

cannot be undone.

Proto-Exist did not create worlds.

It did not forge laws.

Yet every future possibility

would one day be forced

to justify itself in relation to it.

Even gods yet unborn

would stand upon this error

without ever being able to repair it.
