Chapter 2 - CHAPTER THREE

PHOENIX VEGA

"And voila...!!!"

"Voila what, Zeke?" I asked as I crossed my arms, standing in the center of the restaurant.

"You don't always have to be the only one organizing the whole place, you know?" I asked.

"It's not my fault I come earlier than the others." He said as he tossed a towel across the bar.

"So, good news or bad news?" He asked as he pulled out a chair.

"Sit..." He said.

I smiled in return as I placed my weight on the chair.

"I have none of them. Nothing interesting has happened in my life...in a long time." I said as I poured myself a cup of coffee.

The bell from the front door chimed, which meant a customer had arrived.

We both turned to see who it was.

"And that's my big sis, turning the café around." Peyton squealed, obviously trying to make a dramatic entrance.

"That's cliché Peyton, she always does." My brother Owen said.

MEET MY SIBLINGS >>>

Owen Vega II, a web designer, business tycoon, YouTuber and my wonderful brother.

...And Peyton Vega, a student, media influencer and my amazing little sister.

So technically, I'm in the middle.

"Good morning, Zeke."

"Hi, Peyton. You look great..." He said but I cut him short by smacking his head.

"Dude!!! Checking my sister out in front of me! So uncool." I said as I gave him a serious look.

"Come on, Nix. It's no big deal. Thanks, Zeke." Peyton said as she sat next to me.

"Fine. So what brings you both here? I thought you were trying to find perfect spots for your contents. My place is too regular."

"We're not here for contents. It's been a while since we had some "Vega Family Time". Owen and I thought maybe, you could take a day off and we'd spent some time together." Peyton said.

"You guys know how tight my schedule usually is. I can't possibly skip a day." I said as I imagined the terrifying sight of paperwork on my desk.

"Come on, it'll be fun. I promise." Owen said.

After minutes of pleading and persuasion, I finally gave in.

"Okay, okay. Just today and you guys will not have to come here for this purpose again."

"Yeah."

"Totally." They said simultaneously with wide smiles.

"So, where are we going?" I asked, looking at their eager faces.

"We're going to...." I could've sworn I heard drumrolls.

"Xtreme World!!!"

WHAT?!!!!

One of the world's most craz'iest', most wild'est' and most extreme parks.

"We'll be paragliding, bungee jumping, hand gliding, abseiling, you name it..." Peyton said as she demonstrated each activity.

"Hold on. All these sports in one day?" I was already feeling scared.

"That is, if we go now." Owen said as he held up his car keys.

"Are you ready, Nix?" He asked.

At this point, I don't even trust my own siblings. I turned to Zeke and he gave me a go-ahead sign.

"Okay..." I said as I reluctantly lifted myself from the chair.

Zeke carried my purse and workload into my office.

"Don't worry about the café when you're gone." Zeke said.

"I'll try not to." I said as I stepped out of the café and into the Alfa Romeo of my gleeful brother. Peyton hopped in the back.

>>>> >>>>

Driving to the park was ''extremely'' exhausting, even though I wasn't the one on the wheel. I should've brought a barf bag because we encounted a lot of bumps and went through windy roads.

"Are we there yet?" Peyton asked.

"So, you guys haven't been there?" I asked.

"Well...if you put it like that..." Peyton chuckled nervously.

I gave her a blank stare.

"Come on, we saw an ad online. We just couldn't miss it." She said.

"Are we there yet?" She asked again.

"No." Owen replied.

"How 'bout now?"

"No."

FEW MINUTES LATER

"Are we there yet?!" She asked again.

"For the last time, Peyt...NO!" Owen yelled in frustration.

"Okay, sorry. I'll be quiet now."

And in a few seconds...

"Are we..."

"Yes, we are." Owen cut her off before she could say anything else. He pulled into a parking lot.

"I was gonna say "Are we tired?". But it's fine, you gave me the long awaited answer. " Peyton said as she stepped out of the car and walked up to my side. She opened the door and helped me out.

We made a few steps to the gate but we paused in our tracks because of the intimidating guards. They had the brightest shade of black suits I had ever seen. Can they even breathe?. They also had dark sunglasses and wireless microphones on.

"Tickets, please." One sternly said.

Well, at least he said "please".

"We're new here so..." Peyton didn't even complete her statement before he cut her short.

"Don't care. Newbies are supposed to have tickets too." He said, still keeping a straight face.

There was another guard standing at the other side of the gate.

"Why aren't you saying anything, hard face? " Peyton asked mockingly.

Yep, she's a real troublemaker.

The man just stayed silent.

"What's the matter, huh? Cat got your tongue?" She asked.

"What's your business if my partner doesn't speak, young lady? The issue here is your tickets." The first guard said.

"And we told you we're new here. Do you even know who we are? We had no idea we were gonna need tickets. So if you would just let us pass..." She said as she tried to make her way through but got blocked.

"Sorry, you're forcing us to take things the hard way. You're gonna have to leave... ALL THREE OF YOU."

"I can't believe this! There's no way we're leaving, old man!" Peyton yelled in annoyance.

"Did you just call my partner "old" ?" The second guard finally spoke.

"You bet I did and I'm gonna call him that over and over again." Peyton was already losing it.

Owen and I just stayed quiet watching our sister display one of her worst sides.

The argument went on for minutes until...

"Are you done, Peyt?" Owen asked as he placed him palm on his forehead, obviously fed up with all the shenanigans.

"No, not until these crooks..." She was cut off again.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa...Zach, what's going on here?"

I'm pretty sure they all heard that amazing voice.

If there's any word better than "demi-god", that's what this man is. Radiant grey orbs staring at me.

Hold that thought, girl. Why is he staring at me..?

Am I the only damned person here?

I turned to look at everyone else but he was still staring at me.

Can someone start digging the ground now?

Because everything's about to go down... in a sexy kind of way. I seem to be lost in a thunderstorm, a beautiful one.
