Getting Theodore to back them would solve Benedict's mess and clear the path for bigger moves ahead.

Winston gave his shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "Relax."

The memory of that smug expression on Amara's face burned in Winston's mind, his eyes hardening with fury. 'Arrogant little witch! Does she think she's invincible? I'll show her there's always a bigger fish in the pond!'

Amara's POV

"Achoo!" I rubbed my nose as we drove back toward Merida Academy.

"What kind of crappy weather is this? Rain just dumps on us without warning..." Theodore grumbled, then shot me a sideways glance.

"So what's with this weird obsession of yours? Why bother with school? Just say yes to coming back to the institute and those old fossils would throw you a parade."

I watched the busy streets blur past the window. "People need other people. A normal person should live like others their age. At minimum, it has to look believable."

"Makes no sense to me," Theodore muttered.
