Quentin spoke up. "But everyone who clashes with Amara keeps having these accidents. Don't you think the cops will start connecting the dots back to her?"

I couldn't help but grin.

"Where's the proof?" I replied. "She's got solid alibis, and she's still underage. What exactly can the police do?"

Amara's age worked like a shield around her.

If law enforcement wanted to bring her in for questioning, they'd need proper justification, plus her guardian or a school official had to be there.

They couldn't mess with her education or daily routine—had to work around school schedules.

Without hard evidence, no amount of mysterious accidents would touch Amara's world.

Though she'd become an adult soon enough.

I found myself still lost in my fascination with Amara, completely unable to snap out of it.

Quentin, though, kept his head clearer than mine.
