Amara's POV
I crossed my legs, drumming my fingers against the sofa's armrest in a steady rhythm. "Those who can handle it should take on more. I'll leave this task to you."
Dominic clenched his jaw so tightly I thought his teeth might shatter, but he wasn't one to throw a tantrum over losing.
He'd been outmaneuvered, nothing more.
Getting outsmarted was his fatal flaw.
After a pause, Dominic drew in a long breath and dialed a number. "Two corpses need handling here. I'll text you the address."
Some time passed before ambulance sirens wailed from the street below.
Seven or eight people dressed as "paramedics" climbed the stairs with gurneys. They quickly positioned the two bodies and boldly wheeled them out on stretchers.
Dominic looked at me with curiosity. "Those were just disposable pawns this time. What happens when Anubis decides to come for you personally?"
I let my eyes narrow into slits. "Not your concern. Time for you to go."
