Amara's POV

"How could I?"

Despite the steep climb ahead, my steps felt weightless, energy coursing through me.

I glanced back at Jasper. "Don't you find this landscape breathtaking?"

Jasper hesitated. "Well..."

The mountain vista was undeniably stunning.

I could tell he'd never ventured into such isolated wilderness before. From what I could observe, his idea of outdoor recreation probably involved popular tourist destinations. He looked like someone being dragged into some remote kidnapping scenario.

"Yes. The view really is spectacular," he managed.

Jasper's pace grew uncertain, struggling to voice his concerns.

"But there's barely a trail up there. Where exactly are we headed? Will we get back before nightfall? If I don't show up, my father will definitely send a search party."

His phone remained dead, no signal bars in sight. In this unfamiliar territory, Jasper's anxiety was mounting.

I nodded simply. "We will."

Jasper fell silent, biting back further questions.
