Agonized screams bounced off the prison walls, echoing endlessly.

Fifty brutal lashes had transformed Peggy into a mangled, bloodied mess.

Terror had Ivy trembling so violently she couldn't force her eyes open, her whole frame quaking uncontrollably.

Thankfully, Peggy held her tongue. Despite the savage beating, she wouldn't sell out Ivy.

"Your Honor, Miss Fairfax did nothing wrong!" Peggy wailed through her sobs. "Caleb orchestrated everything—my lady had no part in it, I swear on my life!"

Higgins tugged at his beard, deep in thought. Caleb had clearly started this entire catastrophe.

Higgins couldn't risk angering the Fairfax family or Caspian.

'Keeping Ivy locked up should satisfy Prince Caspian,' Higgins mused internally. 'Better to end this here and make Caleb the fall guy.'

Higgins spun around abruptly, stabbing his finger toward Caleb with a thunderous roar. "You worthless peasant! How dare you try to frame Miss Fairfax?"
