AT THE SAME TIME

The silence lasted exactly three seconds. Then both Xavier and Aiden had decided to do something crazy, and they were not at all surprised, knowing how they had both acted lately.
"I would like to take you out."Aiden sad.
"I was hoping you would have dinner with me."Xavier said.
They spoke at the same time. Same calm certainty, same forward intent. Different voices, different weights. The cafe collectively combusted, and Wanessa didn't even try to hold it in. She laughed, a sharp, delighted sound that cut straight through the tension like a knife through silk.
"Oh my god." She said, clutching the counter. "Oh my god. I have lived three lifetimes, and I have NEVER seen this happen in real time."
"Do we clap? Or evacuate?"Michael turned slowly.
