The cafe did not explode, which, frankly, felt like a missed opportunity. Instead, we all just stood there staring at my lunch like it was about to stand up, introduce itself, and file my taxes. The sandwich sat innocently in its box, radiating menace through perfect portion control. Michael was the first to break.

"So." He said slowly. On a scale from one to 'we move to another country', how bad is this?"

"Seven." I said automatically.

"Eleven."Xavier scoffed.

Aiden leaned closer, squinting at the contents like the answer might be printed on the lettuce.

"I hate that he got the tea right." He muttered. "That's not guessable."

"I know." I said. "That's the worst part. If it was wrong, I could call him a creep and move on.

But this?" I gestured weakly. "This is courting me with accuracy."

Wanessa circled the counter, hands on her hips, studying the box like a crime scene investigator who had watched too many dramas.
