(Today is a good day.)
Jesper thought to himself as he was driving to an old part of Dubai to meet a friend and a person willing to offer him a job. The sun was setting , the winds were picking up pace, and the seaside breeze felt cold and refreshing.
Today was indeed a good day.
Sophiyah (Sophy), Jesper's girlfriend, sat in the passenger seat.
"So, who is he and what job is he offering?"
Sophy asks confusingly.
"It's some guy called Bar-der or something, he has a job for me and he promised me it'll change our lives, he told me on the phone that we would be traveling somewhere for a job that's worth a high pay, and that it's not going to be easy."
Jesper replied with a slight smile.
When they arrived at the location provided to them by the mysterious person, they met their friend Lanira (Lani), who had been waiting there for a while.
"Where the hell have you guys been?! "
Lani asked while being frustrated.
"Sorry, the traffic has been shit lately."
Jesper replied sincerely, Lani let out a sigh and then told Jesper.
"It's alright, just don't be late again!"
Jesper and Sophy laughed a little.
''Say, how about we go to a pizza place after my interview?''
He asked Lani and Sophy.
''I don't know J.P, what about you Soph? what do you feel like eating? ''
Lani turned her head towards her.
''What about.. some barbeque.. ? ''
She replied.
They spent 5 minutes discussing what to gobble up after Jesper's job interview.
The three friends were still waiting for the person to arrive.
''I really hope you get this job baby''
Sophy tells Jesper while hugging him.
"I'm pretty sure I will baby."
Jesper replies happily, trying to cheer Sophy up.
"Look! I think that's the guy.. "
Lani whispered, Jesper and Sophy turned around and looked at the person.
"Bartender?"
Sophy scoffs as the guy just walks past them.
''Yeah.. That wasn't him, my bad.. ''
Lani said as she was embarrassed, But then a tall-ish looking middle eastern guy creeped up behind the group.
"Hello there, are you guys here for the job interview?"
The mysterious person said as he has a menacing smile.
''Jesus! What the hell! ''
Lani shouted and both Sophy and Jesper got jump scared.
''I'm Badr by the way, are you the guy that I talked to on the phone? what was your name.. ''
The person called Badr told Jesper as he tapped his legs and tried to remember.
"Oh well yes, I'm Jesper, the guy that you spoke to. "
He replied to Badr.
''I see you brought your friends with you, sadly the last spot will hopefully be filled by Jesper over here''
Badr told Lani and Sophy, Jesper said uncomfortably but confidently.
''Haha, thank you for accepting me into the company before even taking the interview, you have alot of faith in me, presumably because of my resume''.
"I like the confidence, now shall we?''
Badr said as he pointed back to the building.
''Okay then, I'll catch up to you guys in a bit, if I take too long you can ahead and go order some food''
Jesper said as he gave Sophy a kiss on the lips, Badr tries to grab everyone's attention.
''They could come join us''
He said as he nodded his head downwards.
''Uh, are you sure? I mean it will probably take too long''
Jesper was thrown off by that and tried to change Badr's mind.
''Nah don't worry about it, we got some comfortable chairs and some coffee machines inside''
Badr told the group.
''Sweet! ''
Lani said as she put the keys back into her hoodie.
''Alright then.. Lets.. Get in there''
Jesper said and sighed.
As they all walked into the building, they got into an elevator taking them to the 4th floor. as the elevator doors open, they saw that the work space that should've be bustling with workers at this time just, empty.
''This is sketchy already.. ''
Lani tells Sophy as she walks slowly with Lani behind Jesper and the person they just met.
"Hey guys I can hear y'all, no need to be stressed, I won't cut your heads off! "
Badr chuckles.
"Oh my bad, we are all a bit awkward most of the time. "
Jesper told Badr.
"Oh yeah.. well, follow me to the interview room"
Said Badr as they were walking deeper into the office.
They walk into the interview room, Sophy and Lani tensed up.
''You can sit down over here''
Badr shows them the seats and sat down himself Infront of some papers.
''So Mr Jesper H. I have your resume right here and lets just go over a couple of thing before we actually get into the actual interview''
Said Badr as he picked up a paper.
"You're rated as the best mechanic in the garage industry by a couple of my clients"
Badr praised Jesper and he replied
''Word of mouth did the promoting I see. ''
Jesper chuckled and so did Badr.
''What about your friends over here? Do you guys currently work anywhere? ''
Badr asked Sophy and Lani.
''I mean I work as a vet, isn't useful in your company Mr Bar-ender''
Lani replied to him with some attitude.
''Lani! ''
Jesper scolded her with a whisper.
''No no it's fine, a bit feisty, I can play along''
Badr laughed a little and put down the paper and picks another up another one.
''I do get kicked out of the bar for literally finishing all of their beers, but if that actually counts as ending a bar''
Badr told Lani confidently.
''Wait actually? ''
Lani asked almost busting out laughing.
''Nah I'm kidding''
He chuckled as he said that.
Then he shuffled through some papers and picked one up.
''Says here that you went to med school for 2 and a half years, tried to become a nurse but failed, instead became a veterinarian''
Badr said as he read through the paper.
''What the... ''
Lani said while having a confused look on her face.
''Jesper I'll stop the acting, this job that I called you about was not about your mechanical skills''
"Huh? What is it then?"
Jesper replied trying to act clueless.
"Well it does involve your mechanical skills but in the same time no.. This job involves, uh, numerous felonies.. "
Badr tells the group.
''I don't know about that to be honest, you seem a little sketchy to me''
Jesper tells Badr.
''So how about this, your friends could leave the room for a bit as we discuss about a couple of things? ''
Badr asked Jesper.
Jesper looked at Lani and Sophy they both shock their heads no, but he sighed and said.
''Yeah I agree... ''
So just like that both Lani and Sophy were sent outside of the interview room, and they had a chat outside.
''What the hell Sophy? didn't the guy just say the job involved doing illegal things? ''
Lani asked Sophy but she didn't have an answer and just said.
''Lets just...Sit down..I feel sick..''
But Lani wanted to know more so she went back inside with Casper and Badr.
5 Minutes into the conversation.
"Soo, basically you want us to go to Asia for this job? As nice as it sounds a little bit ago you told us that it involves doing something criminal''
Jesper asked suspiciously while Lani sat down on a chair beside Jesper and listened.
"Yes, It's actually to smuggle people into China."
Badr replied jokingly as they stared at him with serious expressions on their faces.
''Ok I'll quit screwing around and give you guys the gold bar, Asia's largest underground car scene. ''
Badr told the group but Jesper was still not convinced.
''Do you take us for dumbasses? or are you just trying to pull another joke which, spoilers, is not funny''
Lani tells Badr as Jesper has his head down and is rubbing his eyes, thinking if bringing them along was a good idea.
''Ouch, well I have something that might change your minds''
Badr said as he got up from the couch and walked into a room.
''He's gonna kill us'' Lani whispered to Jesper.
''I wont, don't worry''
Badr said while walking back to the group dragging a luggage bag and then he placed it on the table, as the two looked into the bag,
Badr added on.
''Approximately 150 grand in there. ''
Lani looked up as if she saw a truck hurling ass at her and says
''Holy fucking shit!! ''
Sophy walks in looking a little bit better then last time and asks
''What did I mis- '' and was shock as she saw all that money in the bag and also said,
''Holy fucking shit... '' .
''So 150k just to convince us? ''
Jesper told him and Badr nodded his head yes.
''So what's the catch? ''
Jesper asks.
''We'll I want you to plant an explosive device on someone's vehicle.''
Badr replied and Sophy's and Lani's eyes widened.
''Ok fine if you don't want the job that's fine by me''
Badr tells Jesper and shrugged but Jesper took a long pause and then replies,
''I'm interested in the job, but I'll need a guarantee on the safety and privacy of my family, and when that's done and solved, I'll need more information of what your planning on doing ''
Jesper said as Lani and Sophy look at him in confusion.
''Done and buried, their safety and privacy is guaranteed''
Badr said Instantly, and then took a brief pause.
Then mustered up his words and said,
''The person I'm asking you to target is one of the Al Qalaa's founders, he caused so much damage and corruption in the system and killed a lot of innocent people, he is ruthless and I have a tiny personal grudge on him too, so in actuality you'd be doing the community, and the people a great thing. ''
Badr replied.
''Where will he be when I need to plant the device?''
Jesper asks again.
''A restaurant but he's too busy drinking his ass off and hooking up with some random hookers''
Replied Badr.
''Wait wait, Al Qalaa as in the! Mafia group!? ''
Sophy asks and Badr,
''Yeah but, they're in no state to be called a mafia, more of a off brand militant group. ''
Almost an hour after briefing and information, the group finally left the place they were in and headed back home, not a single word was uttered by the trio, but Jesper got a call while driving and he answered
''Next meet up is in a different place''
Badr can be heard saying through the phone and Jesper hung up after a short chat.
Time : 7 PM
The group came back home and went straight to bed but something was bothering Sophy and she had to ask Jesper about it,
''Jesper, why did he offer us this job, is he stupid or something, we might be undercover, or even tell the police of what he's planning. ''
''I haven't been honest with you Sophy.''
Jesper replies and she turns to him.
''I haven't been working as a mechanic, sure from time to time I hit the garage and help out, but I'm not a full time mechanic''
Jesper said.
''Then? why would you hide it from us, from...me..? ''
Sophy asked Jesper and he sighed a deep sigh and calmly said,
''I didn't want you to see me as an evil person my love ''
And then he finally told her what he always wanted to tell her.
''I've been a...Hitman, I'm hired to assassinate people''
But instead of panicking or being mad, she just turned right back around and said
''Goodnight Jesper...''
Jesper replied to her
''Goodnight. ''
And just stared at the ceiling as he thought to himself.
Date : November 4th
The group woke up later in the afternoon, they went to grab some food and then head to the location that Badr told Jesper about.
''How do I even say his name, barder? bade'er? ''
Lani joked to Jesper and Sophy.
''I don't know, ask him that yourself''
Sophy replied.
Around 20 minutes later they arrived at the place, full of warehouses, they saw Badr walking out and waving at them.
''I don't like this guy''
Sophy tells the others and Lani replies
''Yeah me neither..''
Before they got out.
''Hey you guys made it, come in''
Badr invited them in.
''Have you guys eaten anything? ''
Badr asked the group once they're inside,
''Yeah we're full.''
Jesper replied to him.
''Not enough room for tea? Well damn, anyways I have bad news''
Badr tells them as they sit down on a sofa in the office of the warehouse,
''What? did the plan not go as planned? ''
Jesper asked with a concerned tone, l
''No it's not that, I'm afraid I must break the terrible news to you all'' Badr tells them as he walks towards the sofa, ''You are all under arrest for attempted murder''.
Everybody's blood ran cold and chills we're sent down their spines,
''Nah I'm just fucking around, I think I'm out of sugar for my tea''
Badr told them as he had a cheeky smile on his face as he left,
''For fuck sake..''
Jesper said as he sighed a sigh of relief and asked Sophy if she's alright, her face was pale.
''It's important for the brain to get a little scare from time to time, get's the brain working away more efficiently, think about what might, mightn't happen, fight or flight in other words'' .
Badr told the group as he came back, stirring his tea.
''Isn't that right Jesper? Now I must tell you something before we actually go forward with doing what Jesper and I have planned'' .
''Have you told them yet? '' Badr asks Jesper as he looks at him with a straight face, ''It's none of your business you know. '' Jesper replied to him, Badr sighed and told them ''Jesper H. is a hitman, not the best one but-'',
''Hey! Enough-''
Jesper tried to cut Badr off but he continued.
''His work is effective though and I'm highly fond of his work that's the reason I chose him''
Lani's eyes were still bulging out since yesterday but Sophy just stared at the floor instead.
''Jesper is a hitman! No way!''
Lani yelled and Jesper replied,
''It's not a good thing Lani..''
But Badr had more to say.
''Here's the plot twist''
Badr said as he pointed the spoon at Jesper and added on,
''We knew each other, but you might not remember me''
Jesper tried to remember who this guy is but to no avail.
''I worked with you in the past but you were much of a talker, so i just let you be''
He tells Jesper.
Badr sighed and told him ''For fuck sake I hate keeping secrets, I'm your old friend, back when you used to live in Abu Dhabi''
Suddenly Jesper remembered why the feeling of goofiness he felt around Badr,
''It's been a while Jesper''
Badr tells him as sipped his tea.
''No way that's you...''
Jesper looks at Badr with widened eyes
''Yes way dumbass, It's me! You do not know how many times I wanted to introduce myself to you! ''
Badr replied to Jesper and put down his tea and then put his hands on Jesper's shoulders and gave him a hug,
''No shot! And no wonder you have a bitchy attitude! ''
Jesper said but added on.
''Jag trodde att du omkom i den olyckan!? (I thought you died in the accident!?) ''
Jesper replied to Badr in Swedish.
''Hitman huh? Fucking hilarious''
Badr laughed and avoided the question.
''I would have never believed it if I didn't see for myself''
Badr added.
''How did you manage to find me and...What I do? ''
Jesper asked Badr while he's still in shock,
''Too much to take in friend, we can talk about it over some alcohol later''
Badr told Jesper, as they patted each other's shoulders and laughed like idiots.
Sophy and Lani looked at each other as this idiotic plot twist of a mess unfolded, and thought to themselves.
"What did we get ourselves into..."
