Chapter 5 - 4 : Master Candidate No.48's Daily Life? (III)

He found himself suddenly face-to-face with his teacher.

None of them uttered a single word.

After a long beat of silence.

Hiratsuka Shizuka opened her mouth.

"Do you know why you're here?"

She asked him tentatively.

He shrugged as a response.

"The uh... Lostbelt reports."

He said softly

Only to be met with a tired sigh.

"Although your grades are relatively high... You doze off mostly in class. Not listening to teachers, always seemingly in a daze, barely interacts with anyone, even with your close friends, Hikigaya Hachiman and Yoshiteru Zaimokuza."

She said briefly and then sighed once more.

"You know this kind of attitude can't last, right? You're already in your second year of high school. Don't you think it's time to make the most of your youth?" She asked him in a tone filled with concern.

Ritsuka smiled wryly as he scratched his cheeks.

"Well, it's just that. Sports or any kind of after-school activity isn't just for me. I don't dislike them, I just... It's hard to put in words... It's meh?" Ritsuka tried to elucidate, only to fail miserably.

She rubbed her temples at his explanation.

"You know how much you scored on this year's Psych Eval? A whopping 25 points!" She said with a sigh.

"Hey! That's not too bad." He said in protest.

"Out of 200 questions?" She asked with raised eyebrows.

"I forgot to fill in the multiple choices properly with my pencil." He said as he looked at the slightly darkening skies.

She clicked her tongue.

"Don't get sassy with me, mister! There is not a single multiple-choice question there. It's an agree or disagree, true or false, kind of question!

With a tired grumble, she opened her locked drawer and pulled out several classified documents. A lot of them were police reports.

"You know... Some of these reports would've reached the higher-ups by now. If it weren't for my timely interference. You'd be in a lot of trouble, young man."

She said as she spread them around on the table.

*** Update.

-The hotbed of crimes is quickly being cleared.

There were several more police reports telling the same things. Ritsuka looked away and whistled as

Shizuka read them aloud one by one.

"As far as anyone is concerned, sensei, that could be anyone."

He said as he wiped the sweat from his brow.

Shizuka raised her eyebrows.

"Are you sure? There's another student wearing a Sobu High uniform going around beating people up? Specifically, one with aquamarine eyes?" Shizuka said as she crossed her arms and glared at Ritsuka.

Ritsuka, on the other hand, just coughed lightly.

"You know... Fujimaru. Being a vigilante is just stupid. You're just putting your life on the line. A kid like you should be enjoying your youth. Find a girl and fall in love. Fail at exams. Try again and pass. Travel around, enjoy the scenery. Get your heart broken and sing your heart out at the cultural festival." She said with a tired sigh.

Ritsuka had a slight smile when she mentioned all that stuff.

In his journey, Has he not fallen in love? Has he not seen the beautiful vistas of the world, each more majestic than the last? Travelled through eras of prosperity, experiencing how the people

lived back then?

Yet he kept it all to himself not saying a word merely gesturing with a shrug

He looked at her with the same eyes, surprising her. It looked like he's seen all of those and more, making her cough embarrassingly, since she herself barely experienced anything of those she mentioned.

"Why? You have no history of violence. All of a sudden, when you entered high school, you just went off? You live alone with the consent of your parents. You come from a relatively normal household. So why? Why do all this?" She said as she shot him a worried look.

He looked at the bright orange sky with a nostalgic smile adorning his face.

"Someone important to me once said, Humans can choose what they love, rather... They must. She longed to see the bright blue sky. So I'd like the world to stay beautiful. Ever since, I have made that choice. So, I chose to love the world they loved." He said with a lonely smile.

His words stunned Shizuka. She was puzzled. According to his family register, he came from a normal household. One with no incidents. What on earth did this boy experience to show a look like that?

She thought to herself.

After a deep silence, Shizuka stood up and dragged him by the collar.

"I've decided. It's time you act like a kid for once. I just hope these kids could help you."

She said as she dragged him down the hallway.

"W-wait! Sensei! I get it! Slow down! Calm Down!" He said with a wry smile as he let himself be dragged away.

Soon enough, they reached an empty, unused classroom.

Inside it was a black haired beauty reading a book near the windowsill.

It looked picturesque, like a winter flower blooming amidst the summer nights.

The girl blinked as she adeptly closed her book and stared at the two intruders.

"So? Can I help you, Sensei? And... Uh... Fujimaru-kun?"

She said with a raised eyebrow.

Shizuka nodded her head and pointed at Ritsuka.

"You need 4 people to make a club. This guy needs the Service Club's help. In exchange, let him join!"
