Chapter 3 - ex-fiancé

Three days passed in the blink of an eye.

During these three days, Ye Wanwan did not go to school. She spent most of her time sleeping and sorting through the memories of her past life.

Just like in her previous life, Si Yehan did not show up at all for three whole days. The servants in the house kept their heads down and busied themselves with their work, rarely speaking to her—they didn't even dare to meet her eyes.

The huge mansion felt like a tomb.

Ye Wanwan changed out of her pajamas, glanced at the clock, then went downstairs and walked toward the courtyard.

The moonlight was beautiful tonight, and a cool breeze caressed her face. The gilded cage that had filled her with such repulsion in her memories somehow didn't seem so hateful anymore.

In truth, the garden of this mansion was exquisitely landscaped. After all, it had been personally designed by Si Yehan, built by a world-class architectural team on the most auspicious piece of land in the imperial capital, taking a full five years to complete.

Unfortunately, in her past life, she hadn't even bothered to appreciate it. She'd only felt hatred for this prison that held her captive, longing to destroy it completely.

As far as the eye could see, there were patches of charred plants, flowerbeds with all the flowers deliberately cut off, and a murky pond… all her "masterpieces".

"Wanwan—"

At that moment, a familiar voice rang out abruptly in the night breeze.

Ye Wanwan tore her gaze away from a cluster of withered roses and looked up in the direction of the voice.

In the dim light opposite her stood a man in an expensive, custom-tailored suit. His features were deep and handsome, and he carried himself with an extraordinary air.

She had to admit—Gu Yueze did have the charm to sweep her off her feet once.

But compared to that devil Si Yehan, he paled in comparison in an instant.

Gu Yueze stood a few steps away from her, glanced at her, and his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.

Ye Wanwan naturally noticed this subtle reaction. She lowered her eyes to glance at her own outfit.

She was still dressed in her non-mainstream heavy metal getup, with heavy makeup that could scare people half to death.

There were no normal clothes in her wardrobe at all. So she'd simply kept her previous look—this way, she could avoid changing too drastically in a short time and arousing unnecessary suspicion.

Gu Yueze stared at her coldly, his handsome face filled with disappointment. "Wanwan! How could you debase yourself like this, throwing yourself at him and letting him treat you like this!"

Debase myself?

Ye Wanwan mulled over these four words, a bitter laugh of self-mockery rising in her chest.

In her past life, her heart had been entirely on him. To preserve her innocence, she'd gone to such lengths to make herself look so hideous, neither human nor ghost.

And this was the thanks she got—being called a "degenerate".

She knew Shen Mengqi must have said nothing good about her in front of Gu Yueze. But if this man had even an ounce of affection left for her, he would never have believed Shen Mengqi's one-sided story so easily.

Since Shen Mengqi was her so-called best friend who often came to keep her company, she could come and go here freely. Obviously, Gu Yueze had snuck in with her secret help.

Just as Ye Wanwan was about to speak, a chill suddenly ran down her spine.

Si Yehan…

He was nearby right now!

She had sensed that man's presence almost instinctively.

In her past life, she had never known that Shen Mengqi had betrayed her, and that Si Yehan had been watching in the shadows the entire time. She had essentially cheated on Si Yehan, and that had become the beginning of all her nightmares…

Ye Wanwan took a slow, steady breath, forcing herself to ignore Si Yehan's presence. She looked indifferently at Gu Yueze—fierce in appearance but faint-hearted in reality—and let out a soft laugh. "I wonder, what right do you have to lecture me now, Young Master Gu? As my ex-fiancé? Or… as my cousin's husband?"

Hearing Ye Wanwan's obviously mocking retort, Gu Yueze's expression darkened slightly. "Wanwan, I know you resent me, but I had no choice. No matter what, I'm responsible for what you've become today. Come with me right now—I'll take you away from the imperial capital!"
