Chapter 19 - A Bait

"House Night is no more, please call me Lenny" Lenny said as he shook Jay's hand.

Jay nodded with a subtle smile, "Noted, it's an honor to have the last descendant of House Night in my party"

"And I believe you are also the perfect man to participate in this little expedition of ours" Jay added.

Lenny frowned a little, "Ah, yes….your raid expedition, you refused to truly emphasize it over the phone"

"What exactly would we be dealing with?" Lenny asked.

Although he wasn't scared of death since he was presently deathless. He still needed to know what they would be fighting against.

Jay's smile faltered a bit, "I apologise for my discreet actions, we can't discuss while standing, can we?"

"Let's have a seat so we can dive deep into this matter," Jay said. Lenny followed them into a room.

At the center of the room, a round table dominated. With a total of seven chairs surrounding it.

Each of them took their seats, and Lenny followed suit.

Only one chair remained empty, seeing that everyone was seated. Jay cleared his throat.

His lips curled into a faint smile, "Let me go straight to the point, Mr. Lenny…"

He paused for a second, "The Dungeon we are raiding is a special one, not even the Buijun Guild is aware of its existence," Jay explained.

Lenny raised an eyebrow, "What the…?" He was stunned, the young boy lay back on the empty chair with his legs crossed.

Since no one could see him, it wasn't noticed.

Jay was satisfied by Lenny's suprise, he continued, "Buijun Guild was created by my older brother who is a Rank 5 Fallen Regulator"

"Since we are related by blood, I'm the one who supervises the Telvian Sanctuary alongside three others"

"Two are Rank 2 Fallen Regulators, with me included. It makes us three while the other is a Rank 3 Fallen Regulator"

"Each of us was given special roles in the Telvian Sanctuary, but mine is quite special," Jay explained.

"How special?" Lenny asked.

Jay grinned, "I'm the head of the scout department in this Sanctuary, we are the ones who venture into the depths of the abyss and track down any threats"

"We record numbers of active Apocalypse creatures, from Common rank to Nightmares and we relay them to the office of the Rank 3 Fallen Regulator"

"I was doing my job when I stumbled on an unexplored region, a few thousand miles away from the Telvian Sanctuary," Jay revealed.

Lenny raised an eyebrow, "A few thousand miles away?" He asked, Jay nodded, "Yes, that's correct…."

"This unexplored region is a deathly mountain path that leads to an underground cave"

"That cave is the Dungeon, I was able to sneak in there alone and return back with little injuries"

"I had my ways," Jay winked at Lenny. Lenny chuckled, "I give you that." He breathed in deeply, "So what exactly are we dealing with?" He asked.

Jay exhaled softly, "The Dungeon contains hundreds of mana stones and mana crystals, it's a treasure chest"

"And there are hundreds of Common rank Apocalypse creatures in there, and even dozens of Wanderers"

"Since it's a D-tier Dungeon, we will be dealing with a Level 8 Wanderer rank Apocalypse creature" Jay explained.

Lenny's eyebrows furrowed, "A Level 8 huh? And of the Wanderer rank as well" He sighed.

"That won't be easy" He slightly tilted his gaze, recalling something, "But shouldn't this team be enough?" He asked.

"We have a Water Sage, A Knight, A Misfit, and a Sorcerer, you guys must be experts in handling Apocalypse creatures as well"

"Why haven't you cleared that Dungeon yet?" He asked.

Kennedy sighed, "Boy, you are right….I give you that" Lenny frowned, "Don't call me boy" He retorted.

Kennedy grinned, "Why? Didn't you just turn 18? You are still a boy tho" Saying that, Kennedy folded his arms.

Lenny clenched his fists, his blood boiled, but he struggled to suppress the desire to rip Kennedy apart.

Benita quickly spoke, aiming to ease the tension, "Lenny, please calm down, what Kennedy is trying to say is that it isn't as easy as you think because the Boss Monster is a twin," Benita revealed.

Lenny was stunned. He glanced at her with a confounded look written on his face. "A twin?" He asked.

Benita nodded, "Yeah, the Boss Monster who happens to be a Level 8 Wanderer has a twin who is a Level 7 Wanderer rank Apocalypse creature"

"For us to clear the Dungeon, we must kill either kill both Apocalypse creatures or delay the Level 7 Wanderer from saving it's twin" She explained.

Lenny couldn't suppress his laughter, "That's a joke right?" He asked, watching their faces..

Jay shook his head, "I can guarantee you it's not a joke" He answered.

Lenny frowned, "How the hell is that possible?" He asked, "Level 7 and Level 8 Wanderers are no joking matter"

"Rank 1 and Rank 2 Fallen Regulators struggle against Wanderers while Rank 3 and Rank 4 challenge Nightwalkers"

"Rank 5 and Rank 6 battle Nightmares, Rank 7 and Rank 8 battle Titans"

"While Rank 9 Fallen Regulators contend against Evil Spirits, that's the unwritten law of the Regulator's society"

"Even the strongest Rank 9 Fallen Regulators fear Apocalypse creatures of the Demon rank"

"Underestimating an Apocalypse creature is the same as digging your grave, how are we meant to divide our strength?" He asked.

"....." There was no response from the party.

Lenny took a deep breath, "When must we leave?" He asked.

"Tonight" Jay answered.

Lenny lay back on his seat, "That means we have to divide the party into two groups, right?" Jay nodded, "That's correct"

Jay lingered for a moment, "Mr. Lenny, we have come to a conclusion that while myself, Kennedy, Benita and Fril will be handling the boss monster"

"We would like you to stall the Level 7 Wanderer, once we launch an attack against the boss monster, it's twin will be alerted" Jay stated.

Hearing that, Lenny's gaze darkened "In other words, you want me to be a bait right?"

Tension soared through the meeting room, in that moment, the fake smiles displayed on their faces vanished..

Kennedy scoffed, "Do you even have a choice?"
