Ethan Kyle Sovereign pulled his two luggage but also ended up taking one from his twin, Eleanor Joyce, past halfway of the sprawling stone-filled mosaic pathway. Her pink floral dress fluttered as well as her illusion brim hat, and its laces almost bothered her while she mouthed a gratitude. He only gave a quick nod as his gray eyes shifted in front of him.
Another dress— of same theme yet in vibrant purple— now fluttered but knew all to well who caught his attention.
The eldest of the house, Arlene Ruth, had her hands full pushing the wheelchair of a man in gray suit— no other than the older brother, Oscar Wayne, who also only had several hand-carried bags on his lap, hugging, of which belonged to the only two sisters of the family.
Calm and composed, no signs of any discomfort as he also had to do his part.
But the youngest still has his eye past them, which was the towering back figure of the oldest brother, Damian Leigh, who had three times the luggage he carried and a couple of bags hanging both shoulders.
Unfazed and all. He moved onward and remain unperturbed— like his dark formal suit— with just about his hair seemingly rustled amidst the breeze, and gleamed even better to an ash gray as the streaks of sun bathe.
'What a reliable brother Dee is, so as sis Ar and bro Oz...' Continued to be in awe about the similarities of their hairs, he then shifted his gaze towards his other brother.
No matter how many times Ethan watched the hairs of his older brothers and sister, shown beautifully and in array of such colors when beamed with light from a simple black and gray highlight of their hair.
Compared to them, he couldn't help but reach out the locks of his hair while them on his peripherals.
Ash brown, is there what was all to it.
Akin to his twin.
Soon as they went to a stop when Damian set foot on the wooden patio flooring, while tugging the luggage, a glint from Oscar's glasses had the youngest caught him off guard.
"Is something wrong?" Oscar's voice also piqued Arlene's interest for what seemed to interrupt Ethan's deep thoughts.
He hesitated, but Eleanor was quick enough, saying, "He's probably drained from that charity event we had."
'Touche!' A curt nod was all he responded to his twin.
"We can't blame him." Arlene giggled for a moment. "It's been a long day."
Eleanor chimed, "Right! About three hours drive since that event place. My body hurts now."
Damian plopped the bags on several couches surrounded the coffee table and shifted towards Eleanor's side, ruffling her jet black hair. When it earned her a rebuttal of a snarl from the sassy twin, he couldn't help but let out a chuckle in surrender.
"How many times do you want him to tell you that this is for our sister's birthday tomorrow." Ethan then nudged his elbow to her twin's shoulders.
"Agreed. It's much closer to the famous seafood restaurant brother mentioned." Oscar scrolled through his phone.
With that, all of the aches Eleanor had vanished to thin air. She squealed a tad second. "Definitely! What better way must we do it other than this?" She sprawled her dainty arms, aiming on the sun's orange streaks smearing the skies.
The cooling breeze, which carried the scent of salt in abundance wafted through their nose. Just about it rejuvenated them a tad bit from soreness— of a burden from their carry-ons.
But the serenity shattered when an earful of complaint of the twin sister dragged them to reality.
"For real! I lost count how many times have we been travelling elsewhere!"
Arlene gave her little sister a soft pinch on her cheeks and the latter only giggled. " I know you love it so much! We should thank Dee for that."
"Can't argue. This is much better, anyway. Brother had been planning so much for us now that we have so much money...." Eleanor's joyful words went to a stale when he saw how Arlene's gaze could bore a hole onto Damian's about several times, if that were possible.
Damian could only smile in their standing.
It was never awkward, but the silence brought him to retrospection.
Understandably so, Ethan thought how could they end up ways not even her, after quitting school to take multiple jobs to sustain them for about five years since both the parents passed away.
Not too far fetched their lives got better just about more than a year ago, when the eldest brother came back.
Particularly right after Damian had two years worth of trip: school, networking, or career advancement.
'... Or whatever makes him sleep at night.' But Ethan couldn't care less with the reasons.
One thing for sure.
Something changed him.
For as long as it was for the sake of their family, all he had in mind it was for good.
Leaving it any longer would only make silence be too awkward with just ornamental plants rustling together with the sea salt breeze in their ears any longer, Ethan grabbed the chance to scoff.
"Of course, it's not like you want to go to school either—" Pain bloomed his arm, putting him to a halt when she gave him the hardest pinch and glittering nails digging further his skin. He could only hissed in pain. "Am I wrong?" Eyes squinted and threw a smirk at her.
"Well, what do you know?!"
To his rebuttal, it earned a tone slight higher from her as they butt heads. Their growls and the back and forth of two forces had Oscar sighed with a small shake on his head and Arlene throwing a glare at Damian. The latter only shrugged for all he cared.
Unable to yield on both sides, Arlene flicked her hand on both the twin's forehead. Nagging them to be at their best behavior.
"Let's head inside first." Oscar then only signaled to Damian to go on and carry the bags and luggage— albeit few at a time— pushing the button, the varnished pinewood door rumbled a sound. The same time, his phone rang and showed it to them. "Why don't we get something to eat?"
