Chapter 8 - Mental Attacks That Ignore Defense

A Level 2 Skeleton Warrior had all its attributes increased by 100 points compared to Level 1.

Its stats jumped directly from 150 to 250.

Lin Moyu knew this increase wasn't normal. Under ordinary circumstances, it would never be so exaggerated.

If not for his talent, a Level 2 skeleton warrior would only gain 25 points in each attribute. Each level-up normally increased every stat by 10 points, resulting in a balanced four-dimensional growth of 40 points total.

That was already considered decent—but nothing outrageous.

The real key lay in his talent.

A unique god-level talent.

This talent paired with the necromancer profession was nothing short of perfect.

Lin Moyu continued activating his summoning skill, increasing the number of skeleton warriors to seven.

The seven skeleton warriors scattered throughout the novice dungeon like elite gold-medal fighters, mercilessly hunting monsters.

Whether it was Level 1, Level 2, or even Level 3 monsters, all of them were instantly killed by the skeletons' chipped, tattered swords—without a single exception.

Their attributes were simply overwhelming.

Even without using any skills, the skeleton warriors possessed terrifying offensive power.

"With 250 Strength, they shouldn't be much weaker than a Level 10 warrior."

A mere Level 2 skeleton warrior had attack power comparable to Level 10.

In the novice dungeon, that meant absolute dominance.

And the most important part—

There were seven of them.

No.

Seven was only the beginning.

Once his spiritual power recovered, Lin Moyu would continue summoning.

[Killed Level 2 Gray-Haired Cat, EXP +20]

[Killed Level 3 Brown Dog, EXP +30]

[Killed Level 4 Blue-Eyed Rat King, EXP +40]

Instant kills. From start to finish—pure slaughter.

Facing attack power equivalent to Level 10, these Level 3 and Level 4 monsters stood no chance.

They died cleanly, without pain, without suspense.

Lin Moyu followed behind the skeleton warriors at a leisurely pace.

As they moved farther ahead, a clear map gradually formed in his mind—a full layout of the secret realm.

"Huh… so this works too?"

The paths traveled by the skeleton warriors were automatically recorded.

In addition to killing monsters, they had effectively become fully automatic map-drawing tools.

In just one hour, his experience bar was nearly full again.

Another level-up was imminent.

He even gave up on meditation altogether.

With this leveling speed, meditation was pointless.

He could simply wait for his spiritual power to fully recover upon leveling up.

The skeleton warriors were ruthless and efficient.

At that moment, Lin Moyu spotted a monster that had somehow escaped their slaughter.

A Level 2 Gray-Haired Cat, lying quietly in the grass.

It had been missed.

"What a lucky one," Lin Moyu thought.

A blue flame ignited in his palm.

Soul Flame.

His only offensive skill for now.

The cyan flame appeared on the gray-haired cat's body instantly, as if it had teleported there.

The cat let out a shrill scream, its body convulsed twice, and then it collapsed—dead on the spot.

Faced with a tenfold-amplified attack skill, the monster stood no chance.

[Killed Level 2 Gray-Haired Cat, EXP +20]

Although the monster was dead, there were no burn marks on its body.

Lin Moyu understood immediately.

Just as the skill description stated—Soul Flame attacks the soul directly.

This was a mental-type attack.

That realization shocked him once again.

Mental attacks shared a terrifying trait:

They ignore defense.

No matter how strong physical armor was, no matter how high elemental resistance climbed—none of it mattered.

Mental attacks bypassed it all.

"The hidden profession really is terrifying," Lin Moyu murmured.

"Just these two skills alone are already incredibly powerful."

"Even without talent bonuses, a necromancer wouldn't be weaker than any legendary profession."

That was his judgment.

It might not be perfectly objective, but he was confident it wasn't far from the truth.

A pillar of light erupted from his body.

Level up.

All attributes increased by 10 points, and spiritual power increased by 20 points.

The Skeleton Warrior skill upgraded to Level 3.

Each of the four attributes increased by another 10 points, which—after amplification—meant another 100 points.

The skeleton warriors' four-dimensional stats soared to a staggering 350 points.

Lin Moyu immediately continued summoning.

Three more skeleton warriors rose in succession.

The total number within the dungeon reached ten.

Ten skeleton warriors rampaged through the dungeon like an unstoppable tide.

[Killed Level 4 Blue-Eyed Rat King, EXP +40]

[Killed Level 5 Green Wolf, EXP +50]

...

Even Level 5 monsters were instantly killed.

Lin Moyu didn't need to act at all.

He simply waited as experience poured in.

At this rate, it would take no more than two hours to level up again.

For ordinary students, reaching Level 3 on the first day was already impressive—and progress would only slow down afterward.

According to Principal Lu Yun's expectations, reaching Level 8 within a week was enough to qualify for higher education institutions.

Level 8 granted entry.

To aim for the top fifty universities nationwide, however, one needed Level 9 or even Level 10.

Outside the dungeon, several principals and senior professionals gathered around a table, sipping tea and chatting leisurely.

"I wonder how many levels the kids can gain on their first day this year."

"What was the previous record again?"

"I remember—Level 5. Su Qianxing back then, and Lin Mohan last year both reached Level 5."

"They were rare professions. And this year, Xia Xue is also a rare profession—should be similar."

"You can usually tell future growth speed just by the first day's progress."

"If Xia Xue can't reach Level 5 today, getting into Xia Jing Academy will be difficult."

Lu Yun listened quietly, his thoughts drifting.

"I wonder how far Lin Moyu can go… A hidden profession shouldn't be weak."

After Level 5, leveling speed dropped sharply.

What they called "the first day" was actually a twelve-hour limit.

Once students entered the dungeon, the countdown began.

After twelve hours, they would be forcibly expelled.

How many levels they gained in that time would define their starting point.

Suddenly—

A vast, oppressive aura surged forward.

Lu Yun's expression changed instantly.
