Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Tales of the Past.

The place was pitch black, and the scent of blood hanging in the air was delicious. It felt like being home just as lunch was served; that simple fact was both fascinating and nostalgic at the same time.

"Snake, did you find the package?"

"Not yet, Dragon. Leopard and I are on it."

"Understood. Have a little fun and then head back. This city will be leveled shortly."

"Copy that. See you later."

The silence of the place was eerie; there wasn't a soul around, despite the heavy stench of blood. As we ventured deeper into that dark tunnel, the number of corpses increased with every step.

Each passing moment was getting more tedious. We needed action, a challenge, blood—to skin a prey and devour it.

"Snake… how much longer until dinner?" Leopard whispered.

"Shut your trap, Leopard. I think I'm sensing something delicious nearby… looks like this day is about to get very interesting."

The scent is making my mouth water. Wait… is that a human? Or could it be… a hybrid? It doesn't matter what it is; I'm starving.

"Run, Leopard! I can't take it anymore, we can't let it get away."

"Wait up, Snake, don't go so fast," Leopard chuckled. "Hahaha… it always cracks me up seeing you lose your mind over a little blood."

"Hey, don't mock me, Leopard. You know better than anyone that human flesh and blood are a delicacy."

Though… the blood of a hybrid takes you straight to the stars.

"Were you a poet in your past life? Or are you planning to be one in this one?" Leopard laughed again. "Hahaha… you're killing me, Snake."

"Keep it down, Leopard… the prey is close. Very close.

" Suddenly, an echo shattered the silence of the tunnel:

"Die, you filthy creature!"

"Go, Stuard! Show him who's boss!" his companion whispered.

"I'm on it, Maria. I'm going to finish this bastard off."

But despite the blows, the damn creature wouldn't go down.

"What do we do, Maria?" Stuard asked, panting for breath.

"I don't know, Stuard…" she replied, her voice breaking.

"Look at that, Leopard: two lambs that strayed from the flock.

Today is a glorious day!" Snake exclaimed, licking his lips.

"You're too much, hahaha!" Leopard laughed, wiping his mouth.

 "Stuard… those… those guys… they're terrifying," Maria whispered, trembling.

"Don't talk nonsense, Maria. We can take them and esc—"

"Hey, Leopard, you didn't even let him finish," Snake raised his voice.

"Stuard… no… help me… please…" Maria stammered, her throat raw with terror.

"Ahahaha! Hey, Snake… you're just as impatient as I am. You didn't let her finish before you pierced her heart with that sharp tongue of yours," Leopard cackled, as blood was still dripping.

Silence returned to the tunnel, broken only by the echoes of their laughter and the sound of their victims collapsing like ragdolls.

"Leopard, it's time to get back to the mission," Snake whispered, his mouth coated in blood.

"Fine. Let's go find that package," Leopard nodded.

The… package… is… close.
