Chapter 10 - 10. Winning and Rewards

David naturally had no objections and nodded in agreement.

"Both sides in position, battle start!" Luke, who had returned, saw the situation and acted as the referee.

"Togepi, quickly use Sweet Kiss!"

As soon as the battle began, Emma had Togepi use Sweet Kiss, attempting to replicate the previous match's tactic.

"Dream on! Zorua, run around Togepi, use Double Team and Shadow Sneak!"

Zorua accelerated, easily dodging the incoming Sweet Kiss while simultaneously circling Togepi rapidly, leaving behind a series of afterimages that surrounded it. The afterimages continuously dealt damage with Shadow Sneak attacks.

"Toge... pri!" Togepi, constantly attacked within the circle of afterimages, immediately panicked, and its eggshell-like body showed some minor injuries.

"Don't panic, Togepi! Face the rotating afterimages and use Growl at maximum power!"

"Tooooge... pri!" Hearing this, Togepi jumped and spun, letting out a full-power Growl. After a wave of sound swept through, Zorua's afterimages vanished, revealing its true form.

At this stage, Zorua's Double Team proficiency wasn't high, and it could only maintain relatively fragile illusions. With Togepi's full-power Growl, they were actually broken.

"That's it, Togepi! Let's press the advantage! Life Dew, then use Metronome."

Togepi, panting heavily, used Life Dew in place to restore its depleted stamina.

"Zorua, don't give it a chance to breathe! Use Extrasensory!"

Growl had lowered Zorua's attack power. Seeing Togepi's plan to recover stamina with Life Dew, David no longer held back and directly had Zorua use its long-hidden powerful move, intending to end the match.

"Zorua~" The little fox's eyes glowed with dazzling blue light, and a powerful Psychic attack crossed half the field, striking Togepi, who was recovering stamina. The immense power of Extrasensory not only interrupted Togepi's recovery but also left it in a flinching state.

"Oh no..." Emma, watching from the sidelines, immediately felt a sense of dread when she saw Zorua unleash such powerful Psychic energy.

"End the battle! Zorua, use one last Extrasensory!"

Hearing David's voice, Zorua used Extrasensory again, directly knocking the flinching Togepi out of the field.

After a flash of blue light, the knocked-out Togepi landed on the ground, its eyes now spiral-shaped, completely losing its ability to battle.

"Togepi is unable to battle. Zorua wins!" Luke quickly announced the result.

"Zorua~" Zorua, having won two matches, ran to David and cried out as if asking for praise.

"Mm-hmm, my Zorua is the best!" David bent down, picked up Zorua, and affectionately stroked the little fox's head, praising it.

Although it suffered almost no injuries, David still took Zorua and Emma's Togepi for a check-up to be safe and had their stamina restored by Nurse Joy.

The group gathered to analyze the recent battles. As a top student and battle enthusiast, David naturally pointed out their shortcomings during the battles and offered relevant advice.

Although the battles didn't take much time, by the time the Pokémon had recovered their stamina and David and the others had finished their review, it was already late, with the sun setting in the west. So, after agreeing to settle their scores in the upcoming Rookie Cup, they all went home.

Back home, David went straight to his room, closed the door, and opened the system panel.

On the system panel, the task item now had a checkmark, waiting for David to claim it. When he clicked to claim, the system's notification immediately sounded in his mind.

[Ding! Congratulations, Host, for completing the task! You have received System Points × 3,000, Shadow Sneak TM × 1.]

David directly chose to have Zorua learn Shadow Sneak through the system, then opened Zorua's information in the Pokédex.

Name: Zorua (Hisuian Form)

Type: Normal/Ghost

Gender: Male

Energy Level: 10 (Normal)

Potential: Red

Ability: Illusion

Held Item: None

Moves: Scratch, Leer, Hone Claws, Shadow Sneak, Double Team, Hex, Will-O-Wisp, Dig, Agility

Egg Moves: Detect, Extrasensory, Memento

A morning of high-intensity training combined with two battles in the afternoon directly pushed Zorua past the Novice stage, bringing its energy level to 10. It also fully absorbed the Speed Potion it had taken earlier, adapting to its rapidly increasing speed through battle.

The two battles today were relatively easy for Zorua. Zorua didn't even push its speed to the limit, and the intensity of its moves wasn't fully displayed. Otherwise, just a few full-power Extrasensory or Hex attacks would have been enough to win the matches decisively.

What's more, Zorua now also had Agility, which it learned during the battle, plus the Shadow Sneak mastered through the TM just now. According to David's estimation, at this stage, as long as the level difference wasn't more than 10, it would be difficult to find a Pokémon that could defeat Zorua.

Furthermore, today was mainly to showcase everyone's starter Pokémon. Zorua's strongest and most skillful signature illusion techniques had no use. Only in future 3v3 or 6v6 full-team battles would the Phantom Fox truly display its terrifying power.

David then returned to the system's main page.

Host: David

Ability: Aura Power (Preliminary Awakening)

System Points: 5,620

Held Items: Speed Potion Type I × 1

"Wow, I've already accumulated over five thousand points. Now I can do five normal draws. So, should I draw now, or not?"

Looking at the page, David thought about it. He wasn't lacking resources right now. Pokémon training resources like Moomoo Milk, high-grade Pokémon food, and other items could all be directly obtained from his own Gym.

Moreover, since he had already become a Trainer, last night David's father had given David a credit card containing the hundreds of thousands of Pokédollars he had saved over the years as allowance, as well as the ten million Pokédollars that he and David's mother had provided for initial support. He also told him that if he needed anything, he could tell them, so he wouldn't be short of money at this stage.

"Forget it! I'll wait until I save 10,000 points. Maybe, like those games I played in my previous life, there will be some guaranteed mechanism for ten consecutive draws!"

"Oh, right—besides completing tasks, battles can also earn points. Tomorrow, I'll just go to League City's Rookie Secret Realm and try it out. I'll set a small goal first! See if I can gather enough for a ten-draw soon."

In addition to task rewards, the two battles also provided him with nearly two hundred points. After some thought, David still gave up on drawing immediately, planning to save up for a ten-draw first.
