Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Leaving the City!

The current me is infinitely arrogant! I need someone to beat me up thoroughly! The current me is exactly Cid Kagenou!

Cid finally walked out of Mondstadt city and began taking commissions in the wild.

Today's task is to collect Lamp Grass.

Lamp Grass is a wild flower that faintly glows at night. When cooked together with other ingredients, it enhances the flavor.

In Mondstadt, it's a product in short supply.

After all, eating well is very important, isn't it?

Cid carried the Iron-Point Spear and his backpack, maintaining a steady pace as he ran toward Whispering Woods.

Vision holders have portable space. Cid was very envious, but he didn't think getting a Vision too early would be a good thing…

It seems like even if he wanted one, he couldn't get it?

It feels like Visions are related to a person's spiritual and emotional resonance.

So, he'll leave the Vision to fate.

Having one would be best, but not having one won't disrupt his plan to grow stronger.

Cid looked at the mini-map.

The main locations for Lamp Grass are Whispering Woods and Wolvendom.

But Wolvendom has wolves, while Whispering Woods… at most has some small Hilichurls.

After all, it's within the reach of the Knights of Favonius. So large Hilichurls are basically impossible to overlook.

According to the protagonist halo law, the probability of "basically impossible to overlook" means there is 100% something overlooked.

Then it will be encountered by that chosen protagonist, who will kill monsters and level up.

Cid said he wasn't panicking at all.

I only came out after training properly.

Though I haven't had real combat experience, based on currently known intelligence,

if I throw away the Iron-Point Spear, I can definitely run faster than a large Hilichurl.

ᕙ(☉ω☉)ᕗ

Do you know how fast I can run for a bit of delivery money!

ᕕ(⁡■◞ ⁡■)ᕗ

In short, Cid's training was clearly effective.

At least when he reached Whispering Woods, he was only slightly out of breath.

Can't drop my cool factor! Exhale… inhale… exhale…

Alright, I've recovered!

ᕙ(•▾•)ᕗ

Cid put the map back into his backpack.

Damn it! At times like this, I'm still so envious of the portable space from Visions!

Cid expressionlessly and extremely seriously observed the environment of Whispering Woods.

The Lamp Grass on the outskirts had basically all been picked.

It's better to head deeper in.

Cid picked up the Iron-Point Spear and walked toward the depths with utmost vigilance.

"Congratulations on completing today's commission. Here is your reward."

"Thank you…" Cid accepted the heavy pouch of Mora from Katherine's hand.

Outside the city really earns more than inside.

But why is my heart so complicated?

ε(┬┬﹏┬┬)3

After a whole day, let alone large Hilichurls, he didn't even see a single Hilichurl.

Where's the promised incompetence of the Knights? Old Master Diluc, you lied to me!

ヽ(#`Д´)ノ

Do you know what I have in my bag? Elemental combustion bottles prepared in case I encounter an Abyss Mage, a Liyue alchemical crossbow prepared for Ruin Guards, explosives prepared for my lifelong enemy…

These are all things I scrimped and saved to buy!!!

Cid weighed the Mora in his hand.

I'll go have a big feast tonight.

I need a good meal to soothe my frightened heart…

"Hey, adventurer over there, how was the service this time?" A man who looked full of a sense of justice walked over.

This is a member of the Treasure Hoarders.

Also the one who provided me with equipment.

I won't say anything else, but these Treasure Hoarders… they take money and do the job. A pure monetary relationship is indeed reassuring.

Mainly, it's cheaper than legitimate stores.

"I didn't end up using them." Cid said expressionlessly.

"Dear customer, don't return them. Although we support seven-day no-reason returns, these elemental bottles can be stored for at least a year. What if you need them someday?"

"Hm." Cid remained polite, looking at the person in front of him.

"Then, dear customer, how about giving a five-star review?"

"…?" Cid showed a puzzled expression.

The person in front of him took out a piece of paper. "Recently there are more and more Treasure Hoarders. For business, our boss decided to learn some methods from certain merchants. Give us five stars, dear customer! My salary depends on you!"

Damn! How come even Treasure Hoarders these days are more hardworking than the man-child patrons in Mondstadt!?

Cid silently marked five stars on the entire paper. "To be honest, with how hard you guys work… why not become adventurers?"

The Treasure Hoarder in front of him showed a surprised expression.

As if surprised that Cid asked such a stupid question.

"The profit from one day of smuggling is at least five times your life-risking adventurer salary. And if luck is good, it's zero-cost business—sometimes ten times the profit."

Damn it! I want to join the Treasure Hoarders!!! If I could! I even want to be the kind in the notebooks!

"I understand." Cid handed the paper back to the Treasure Hoarder brother.

"Looking forward to your next visit!"

The Treasure Hoarder brother ran off.

Anyway, in reality I definitely wouldn't choose to become a Treasure Hoarder.

After all, who knows—the next time I meet this brother might be in prison?

Cid leisurely strolled through the streets of Mondstadt.
