Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 Why Forge Bonds?

"Just woke up, Gengar?"

"gengar sound…"

Gengar, still groggy, took the ingredients from Lucas's hand.

Lucas gently tugged at Gengar's mouth and realized that Gengar had a natural smile.

"Let's go inside. I have a cookbook. You can look at it later, and I'll make whatever you want to eat. How does that sound?"

"gengar sound!"

Gengar happily cried out.

Lucas was sitting on a chair in front of the counter, and Gengar brought him a glass of water.

Then he carried the ingredients to the kitchen to put them away, before floating back to Lucas, looking at him with sparkling eyes.

Seeing Gengar's expression, Lucas actually found Gengar very cute.

He couldn't help but pull Gengar's cheeks with both hands: "How can a Gengar be such a cute Shell Smash Pokémon?!"

"gengar sound — ớ ₃ ờ"

After playing with Gengar for a while, Lucas took out the gifts his Great-Aunt had given him.

A very large cookbook and an item list.

Gengar was a little shocked to see the two books suddenly appear in Lucas's hands.

"gengar sound… gengar sound?"

How could he do that too?

Immediately after, Gengar reached into his mouth and pulled out a Gengar watering can from inside.

"?!"

Lucas was dumbfounded, watching Gengar pull the Gengar watering can from his mouth.

One human and one Pokémon stared blankly at each other.

(Note: Gengar can connect to different dimensions.)

"Well, you've cheated too, haven't you?"

Lucas shook his head, then turned his gaze to the two books in his hands.

He handed the cookbook to Gengar. Gengar took the cookbook and opened it, and a large number of beautiful food photos came into view.

Because the cookbook was very large, it was difficult for him to hold it. He simply spread the cookbook on the ground, then lay on the floor, his short legs constantly wiggling, and his small tail wagging. Looking at the delicious food in the pictures, his crimson tongue stretched out long.

Lucas glanced at Gengar, who was lying on the ground, engrossed in the cookbook, and found Gengar even cuter. Then he looked at the wagging tail behind him, reached out, and tugged it.

No reaction, so he tugged it again.

"gengar sound?"

Gengar turned his head and glanced at him, indicating he wasn't in the mood to play.

"You, you look. I won't bother you anymore."

Lucas said helplessly, "This guy changed once he got the cookbook."

Lucas lowered his head and opened the item list in his hand. As soon as he opened it, he heard a "whoosh~" sound.

He looked up and saw Gengar was leaking air again.

Lucas was a little exasperated, "Alright, I know, hurry back and choose the food you want to eat."

"gengar sound~"

Gengar returned to his normal state, floated over, licked Lucas, and then went back to looking at the cookbook.

Lucas wiped off the saliva Gengar had left and also lowered his head, concentrating on the item list in his hand.

After reading a few pages, he understood that the items Great-Aunt made were different from the items in the Pokémon world. This book only recorded some relatively simple small items, such as small wood carvings and the like.

Lucas calmed down and carefully flipped through the book. All the handwriting in the book was handwritten, the script was very elegant, East Jewel characters.

Most of them were handicrafts, and most were carvings.

Lucas slowly read, and he could vaguely feel Great-Aunt's mood when making each small item, as well as her crafting techniques.

This also taught him the craftsmanship in the book.

Feeling the new knowledge in his mind, Lucas murmured, "Is this your gift to me? Thank you…"

"gengar gar~"

Hearing Gengar's voice, Lucas came back to his senses and looked over.

At this time, Gengar was still flipping through the cookbook. Every time he turned a page, he would happily cry out.

Lucas stood up, walked to Gengar's side, sat down, and asked him, "How is it? Have you decided what we're eating tonight?"

Hearing this, Gengar flipped back to the first page, pointed at a few, then flipped to the second page and pointed at a few more, continuing until he was very far into the book, with a few items marked on each page.

"gengar sound~"

He wants to eat every one~

"Gengar, listen to me, we can't eat all these delicious foods at once, and many aren't suitable to eat now. Plus, we don't have the ingredients for many of them yet. First, pick a few that we have ingredients for, and I'll make them for you. For the rest, whenever you want to eat a specific one, tell me, and we'll go buy the ingredients and make it for you, okay?"

Lucas patted Gengar's small head and said.

Gengar's crimson eyes darted around, then he stood up and nodded.

"gengar sound~"

That's true~ You can't eat all the delicious food at once.

"So, have you chosen?"

"gengar sound! ٩(º﹃º ٩)"

Lucas looked at the three items Gengar pointed to, smiled, stood up, and then said, "Understood, Officer Gengar."

He even saluted after speaking.

"gengar gar?"

Gengar looked at Lucas's actions curiously.

Lucas walked towards the kitchen, saying without looking back, "Remember to put the books away. They can't be stolen."

Hearing this, Gengar's eyes widened.

"gengar sound?! ψ(*`ー´)ψ"

He finished speaking, looked around, then hugged the cookbook.

Seeing the book Lucas had just been reading on the chair, he went over and picked it up, then went to a relatively safe place and continued to flip through the cookbook.

This time, he was sitting and reading, tightly clutching the item list Lucas had given him.

After preparing the ingredients, Lucas shouted outside, "Gengar, come help move the table out. Today we're eating in the open space behind."

"gengar sound—"

I'm coming.

After hiding the two books, Gengar passed through the wall to the kitchen, then moved the table and chairs outside.

Meanwhile, Lucas continued to busy himself in the kitchen… Twinleaf Town, Pokémon Center.

"Has its trainer still not come?"

Nurse Joy asked Blissey.

"Blissey."

Blissey shook her head.

Nurse Joy looked at the Pokémon quietly staying not far away, feeling a bit troubled.

This Pokémon was brought by a trainer from another region.

At first, it was thought that they had forgotten to pick it up, but now five days had passed, so it was probably abandoned.

Joy sighed and walked in front of the Pokémon.

The Pokémon's brown, vertical oval eyes were tightly fixed on the door outside.

Every time it heard footsteps from outside, its eyes would brighten, only to dim again when it realized it wasn't its trainer.

Having endured this for several days, it vaguely guessed what had happened.

Its trainer didn't want it anymore because it lost every battle.

"Liliil…"

"He didn't come today either. Maybe he's too busy."

Joy squatted down and comforted it.

The Pokémon shook its head; it already knew.

Looking at the Pokémon in front of her, Joy felt a pang of heartache.

On the first day, the leaves on its head were still very dark and neat, looking like an onion doll. Now, the color of the leaves on its head was almost devoid of green, and they looked much messier.

Just as she didn't know what to do, Blissey poked her, then gestured.

"Blissey—"

Joy suddenly remembered Lucas. He had just passed the Breeder assessment today and also had a Breeding House. Perhaps that place would be suitable for it.

Joy and Blissey exchanged glances, then nodded, and said to the Pokémon in front of them:

"It's okay. Tomorrow, I'll take you to a place to play. Maybe you'll like it there."

"Lilili…"

Listening to its continued listlessness, its entire body was like a plant about to wither.

Joy sighed inwardly, knowing she could only wait until tomorrow to see if Lucas had any solutions.

At the same time, she felt indignant in her heart. If they were going to abandon a Pokémon in the end, why form a bond in the first place?
