After everyone was done their interview, Stacey informed them that she would be with them shortly to announce the results of the interview. The tense atmosphere in the room had just increased by a hundred percent, one could easily read nervousness from everyone's faces. Little chatter was heard amongst their midst in anticipation of the results.
Adrian has just gotten a call from Lucian, informing him that the interviews had been completed and the results were about to be announced. "I trust you were able to pick the best out of the best", "of course sir, it wasn't an easy task, but it seems I was able to find good enough potential today sir", Lucian said. "Get back to me once the results are out, and make sure they are put to work immediately", "yes sir".
Stacey and Lucian left the conference room for the lobby, on getting there one could tell that the job candidates were already getting agitated. "Good morning everyone, we are going to commence with the announcement of the results, we are going to call your names at random, and anyone who does not hear their name should kindly remain seated. This made the candidates shift in their seats meanwhile, Stacey was zoning out thinking of all the things that could go wrong if she lost this opportunity. Stacey began reading out the names; "Jeremy Coleman: failed, Joan Stan: failed, Amy Frederick: passed….". Out of thirty candidates in general and twenty-two names called, only five had passed, Stacey was evidently sweating in her seat, they called to the last name, " and the last candidate Stacey Vale, passed".
She nearly let out a scream when she heard she had passed, she managed to compose herself and make her way out to meet the others, "congratulations, miss Stacey", said a young man who was also a candidate, "thank you", she replied. "Thank you all for participating, but as you know we need potentials at it's best, maybe next year some of you will get the opportunity to work with Black Tech, we really appreciate your cooperation so far, you may leave now". Stacey looked at the candidates that had failed, they bore nothing but sadness on their faces, some were even on the verge of tears. They quietly began to make their way out of the building with disappointment, written all over them. Although Stacey felt bad for them, she was extremely happy that she had passed,at least she could cover for her bills now. "The rest of you here, congratulations and welcome to Black Tech, all of you will be shown your duty post and be put to work immediately", Stacey said, "also all the new employees will have a private meeting with Mr Blackwood by 5pm today after working hours, Stacey ensure everyone attends", "yes sir", Lucian reminded Stacey before he left. "Everyone please follow me, I will show you where you will be working".
Adrian had already left the office before Lucian got there, he placed a call to him and he picked on the second ring, "what?", his cold voice hammered, "we have a total of seven new employees and I have scheduled your meeting with them for 5pm today", Lucian replied "not today, same time tomorrow" he said and hung up the line. Lucian wondered what had made Adrian cancel his afternoon, whatever it is he had to attend to had made him really angry, but who was he to ask. He left his office and went to supervise the new employees.
