Chapter 17 - Kill Him

Noah let out a sigh as he stepped out of the school's gate, it seems Raine had really been upset, as she had refused to walk with him…. Even though they were heading the same way.

He looked up in the sky where the quarter moon was shining high above, for some reason, he felt much more comfortable under the night sky.

But that might just be a vampire thing, he figured.

Speaking of which, "when do my vampire abilities manifest?"

He knew that he had gained superhuman senses, maybe even superhuman strength, though he hadn't had the chance to test it out.

But that couldn't be all… right?

Lost in thoughts, Noah didn't even realize that he had walked into Stromovka Park, not until all sounds around him disappeared.

"Great," Noah muttered as he looked around the empty park.

It was still early in the night but the park was completely empty due to the recent 'wild animal' attacks.

People now completely avoided it but that was a good thing for Noah since it gave him enough privacy to try out his abilities.

He walked a bit deeper into the park, closer to the lakes as he looked at the moon's reflection on its surface.

"Now what should we try out first?" Noah muttered as he awkwardly stood back.

In most comics, the superheroes just spontaneously discover their abilities, but he wasn't sure how it worked for vampires.

What was he supposed to do? Trust his instincts?

"Let's start with something simple," he muttered, "vampires are supposed to have night vision right?"

He squinted his eyes for a couple of awkward minutes only to give up when nothing happened.

Noah was completely thankful that no one was around to see that….. well, almost no one, but he noticed a black cat curiously looking at his actions.

It almost felt like the damn thing was having a laugh, though that might just be his imagination.

With a sigh, Noah turned around, giving up since he might just look stupid if he continued running more test.

"Let's just wait for Antoinette," he decided, about to head back when his nose suddenly caught a whiff of something.

The scent was then followed by a low growl which caused Noah to quickly turn towards the sound.

"Fancy seeing you again, Noah," a familiar voice came from the opposite direction of the growl, pulling Noah's attention to it.

Dressed in all black was the same man he had seen earlier, "Viktor."

"I'm glad you remember me," the man replied with a grin that showed his fangs.

Although his smile seemed friendly, Noah knew he was anything but, especially when he considered the people….things(?) behind him.

They seemed human at first sight, but if you looked closer, you'd notice that there was something definitely wrong with them.

For one, they had pale flaky skin, almost as if it was falling off, which it was.

Their eyes were also blood red, and they walked as if they were being restrained from crawling on all fours and pouncing on Noah.

Noticing Noah's gaze on the creatures behind him, Viktor's smile widened as he introduced, "these are my beautiful creations, though failures, they have their uses."

Noah's expression got darker, not because he had a sense of justice or anything, but because of the look on Viktor's face as he spoke of the creatures.

It seemed he only regarded them as toys, beings that existed only for his entertainment.

"Wipe that look off your face," Viktor said, suddenly closing the distance before Noah could even leaning in. "You slaughtered two humans within hours of turning, so don't look at me as if you're any better."

Seeing that Noah had gone silent, a grin appeared on Viktor's face as he placed a hand on Noah's shoulder.

"Listen kid," he started in a low tone, "you might've been one of them before, but now you're something much much greater."

"And they're nothing but cattle," Viktor added after a short pause, "toys that only exist for our entertainment."

Noah remained silent, his head bowed a bit but he slowly lifted it, revealing his eye that were now glowing red.

"I see," he said.

"I'm glad you unders–"

His words were immediately cut off as an overwhelming aura fell on his shoulders, one that seemed to demand he went on his knees.

Before he had the chance to recover, he suddenly felt Noah's arm wrap around his hand and with a simple tug, it was ripped right off.

A cloud of blood sprayed from the newly created stump, falling on Noah's face.

"I see," Noah repeated, his voice devoid of the hesitation he'd felt just moments ago.

His red eyes turned towards the stump where Viktor's shoulder used to be. "If we're just playing with toys... I guess you won't mind if I break this one."

He tossed the arm aside.

The 'failures' behind Viktor hissed as they watched their master being suddenly attacked overwhelming aura of the monster standing in front of them.

Viktor stumbled back, clutching the bloody stump where his arm had been, his face drained of its previous smug composure.

"H-HOW DARE YOU?!" He screamed, every bit of his aristocratic composure dropped, "YOU FUCKING DARE HURT A NOBLE? I WAS HERE TO OFFER YOU SALVATION."

Noah just shrugged, tempted to say something about already sleeping with one, but something told him that this wasn't time for jokes.

Viktor's face contorted as the stump started glowing and he gestured wildly to the pale, flaky-skinned creatures behind him. "KILL HIM! TEAR THE FLESH FROM HIS BONES! FEED ON EVERY BIT OF HIM!"

With his command, a bunch of glowing red eyes as different failed vampires stepped out of the trees, completely surrounding

"Umm," Noah scratched the back of his neck as the looked at the army surrounded him, "you wouldn't happen to want to let me go if I said I didn't actually mean my previous words?"

Viktor just screamed, "KILL HIM!"
