Chapter 45 - Trying To Get Rid Of The Queen

"Wow, so this is the office you spend your whole day in. I should be jealous," Straw said as she entered Berryanna's office.

Berryanna was seated behind her desk, papers spread neatly before her, seals arranged in careful order. Her hand moved steadily, practiced, as she pressed one seal after another. She did not look up at first. The sound of Straw's voice did not break her rhythm. Only when the shadow fell across the desk did Berryanna lift her head.

Straw stood there holding a tray, her posture relaxed, her eyes scanning the room with casual interest, as if she owned it.

"Who let you in?" Berryanna asked.

"Myself. Plus, the guards don't care what I do. Possibly your command to ignore me too much," Straw said. She crossed the room without waiting for permission and set the tray down on the table with a soft thud.

Berryanna glanced at the tray and then back at her papers.

"I never said I was hungry."
