Berryanna slept in her office all night. After angrily throwing Straw out of the room, she went to freshen up in the bathroom, and when she was done, she walked straight to her office.
She was not used to pain. She saw it as a weakness. And when she felt that burning sensation, the three days of feeling like she was dying came crashing back to her. Her chest had tightened. Her hands had trembled. Her breathing had gone uneven. It was not just the burn. It was the memory of losing control. Of not understanding what was happening to her own body.
She had to kick Straw out because she could not control her anger, and she was scared of doing something she might regret.
She had stood in the bathroom staring at her reflection, jaw clenched so tight it hurt. If Straw had stayed one second longer, Berryanna did not trust what she might have said. Or done. So she left first.
