Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Sacred Vault Hall

Instructor Lu smiled, revealing iron teeth that reflected Kaizer's image.

"Give me your invitation letter and residence card," Instructor Lu said while looking at the new student.

"Instructor, I lost my residence card on the way, but I know my residence card number."

"No problem, just tell me the residence card number. We have access to all residence records."

"2000086," Kaizer said as he handed out the invitation letter.

Instructor Lu scanned the invitation letter to check its legitimacy and to copy some information. He began to type on the computer for some time. A hologram with a QR code projected out.

After ten minutes, Instructor Lu said, "Scan this QR; it's your student ID as well as your account. With this, you can access the Academy webpage on the Meta web."

(In the current era, Meta web works as the internet.)

As Kaizer scanned it with his smartwatch, a new application appeared with the name Astra.

"You can check it later. Also, which type of dorm room would you like to rent?" Instructor Lu asked.

Kaizer was confused; he didn't know anything about it.

Seeing Kaizer's expression, Instructor Lu said with a slightly irritated voice, "Saira, I think you are not doing your job properly. Next time I see your neglect, I will deduct your merit points from job earnings."

"I am sorry, Instructor Lu, I forgot about that," Saira apologized.

Instructor Lu said, "Listen, there are many rooms in the dorms. I cannot explain all of them to you, but you can check them later on the academy webpage. Currently, you have only 100 merit points, so you can only afford two types of rooms: sharing with others or a single room. In a shared room, there are about two students, while you are alone in a single room. Sharing a room costs about 25 merit points, while a single room costs 50 merit points per month. The choice is yours."

Kaizer said without any hesitation, "Single room."

"Are you sure? After registering a room, you can only change it after six months."

"Yes."

In a few seconds, Kaizer's smartwatch vibrated. He had just received a notification; it was information about his room.

Notification: Room number 100, Building 1, has been registered. Access code: 205.

"Please note that you must keep the access code secret to maintain privacy."

"Thank you, Instructor."

Kaizer left the registration booth with these words.

As they both reached the house booth area, Kaizer asked while looking around the booths, "Miss Saira, do you have any recommendations for any house?"

"There is not much difference in which house you join right now. Only the difference will be known at the end of each year. Last year, our Black House was in fourth place. We are only three steps away from first place. Why not join Black House?" Saira said while closing one eye.

Kaizer looked at the Black House booth. There were only a few students there. He thought, 'Doesn't that mean they were in second-to-last place? There are only five houses.'

He also looked around and saw that other booths had long lines. It might take a few hours to register at the other house.

"Alright, let's go register in Black House," Kaizer said while walking toward the black-colored booth.

Saira felt she had misheard Kaizer's words. She paused a little and said, "Are you sure?"

Kaizer nodded and reached out to the booth. It was not so difficult to register. Kaizer just mentioned his name and signed some documents, scanning his eye pupils.

Just as he finished registration, he said, "Miss Saira, can we go there now?"

Saira looked at the new student strangely. He was carrying a large backpack, and without going to his room to drop it off, he wanted to head towards the sacred vault hall like this.

She thought, 'Does this guy not know common human behaviours?'

Seeing Kaizer innocent eyes and eagerness, Saira found herself unable to refuse. In the end, she could only nod.

As they reached the outside of the arch building, Kaizer saw many figure photos, statues, and trophies. Saira was walking at the front while Kaizer followed her.

"These are photos of legendary people of the human race. They are very famous, and they are the savers of the human race." Saira continued praising the figures in the photos and describing their contributions. However, she felt something was wrong. She saw some students in the hallway looking at her as if she were some extinct creature. She turned around and saw Kaizer was ten meters away, looking at the left side of the hallway.

Saira's face immediately turned red. She had been speaking and talking to herself this entire time. She was a little angry, but she tried to hide it.

She walked nearer to Kaizer and saw him smiling. It was quite beautiful. She was a little dazzled.

"What are you doing?"

Saira didn't get any response, so she followed his gaze and saw a middle-aged woman's image with blue eyes and short black hair, wearing a lab coat. She was really beautiful.

She thought, 'Is he really a hardcore fan of hers?'

Kaizer slowly reached out his hand and was about to touch the virtual image. Saira reached out and held Kaizer's moving hand and said, "You cannot touch the image or any statue here; you will get punished."

Kaizer came back to his senses and said, "Thank you, Miss Saira, for reminding me."

While looking at the image, Saira added, "She is Professor Dr. Freya and also a great researcher. She was from an orphanage; however, she was a genius in the field of bio-genetic engineering. She has more than 200 patents in her name, but later she sold all the patents in her name. Nobody knows why she did it, and currently her location is unknown."

Saira reminded him, "Hey, Kaizer, only ten people are allowed every hour in Sacred Vault Hall. If we get late, you might have to wait for many hours."

Just then, a familiar voice echoed behind him.
