The entrance hall beneath the eighty-eighth floor of the HR Alliance Building in Jiangnan Base City was already illuminated by artificial lights when two military off-road vehicles bearing the "HR" emblem rolled in.
The Falcon Squad had returned just before nightfall.
With a sharp hiss, the vehicle doors opened in sequence. Six fully armed martial artists stepped down, their equipment stained with the muted traces of the Wilderness Area. Their presence alone caused subtle ripples in the surrounding flow of people.
"Beep."
The electronic sensor doors parted smoothly.
"Gentlemen, please come in," the doorman said, bowing deeply.
Without hesitation, the Falcon Squad entered.
The interior hall was extravagantly decorated. Every ornament—whether a sculpture placed by the wall or an abstract art piece hanging from the ceiling—radiated understated luxury. The staff moving through the hall were all well-trained, their polite smiles neither servile nor intrusive, as if such scenes were routine.
The squad headed straight for the elevator area. A service attendant stepped forward and pressed the button for the twenty-first floor.
"Manager Fang is already waiting for you," she said gently.
The elevator ascended without stopping. Moments later, a soft chime sounded, and the doors slid open.
The twenty-first floor was spacious, dominated by a wide waiting area lined with long sofas. Several people were seated there, quietly waiting their turn. But when the Falcon Squad appeared, none dared to intercept them.
A service lady led them directly to a private office.
"Our manager is inside. Please come in."
The door opened to reveal an even more luxurious interior. Crystal ornaments refracted soft light across the room, while beneath the tempered glass floor flowed clear water, small fish darting among aquatic plants below, creating an illusion of calm movement.
A bald, round-faced elderly man rose immediately.
"Cold Army," he said warmly, eyes flicking over the group. "Judging by your timing, this harvest must be impressive. Come, sit."
This was Manager Fang.
They took their seats on the nearby sofas.
"So," Manager Fang said with a smile, "what did you bring back this time?"
Lieutenant General Zhang answered first. "Old Fang, prepare to be surprised. Even with all the business you see every day, this haul isn't something you encounter often."
"Little Yao," Cold Army said calmly, "bring it out."
Bai Yue set down the backpack at his feet. One by one, he removed the materials inside—thick fur, intact eyeballs, sharp fangs, dense bones—laying them neatly across the floor.
A fierce aura lingered around the items, as if the monster's will had yet to fully dissipate.
"Great Strength Demonic Bear?" Manager Fang's expression changed instantly. "How did you kill this thing? With its defense and brute strength, even a God of War would struggle."
His gaze sharpened as he examined the materials. "The fur is nearly flawless. The skeletal structure is complete… excellent."
"Wait here."
He turned and retrieved a reinforced lockbox from a cabinet. Opening it, he removed a compact scanning device and activated it. A thin red beam extended from the glass surface.
"Cold Army, let the others take theirs out as well."
The remaining members placed their materials on the floor—remains from thirteen other intermediate Beast General–level monsters. Though inferior to the Great Strength Demonic Bear, each was still highly valuable.
The red beam swept across them one by one. As the scan progressed, Manager Fang's smile grew steadily wider.
Two minutes later, the scan ended.
"These materials are high quality," he said. "Here's my offer: the Great Strength Demonic Bear at six hundred million hua xia coin. The remaining thirteen Beast Generals at one point three billion. Total—one point nine billion."
Even for him, this was no small transaction.
Lieutenant General Zhang shook his head immediately. "Too low."
What followed was a measured back-and-forth. Cold Army remained silent, letting Zhang handle the negotiation. In the end, the price of the Great Strength Demonic Bear was raised to eight hundred million, while the others remained near market value.
Final total: 2.1 billion hua xia coin.
On the third floor, after finalizing the deal, the squad entered a private dining room and ordered a full table of dishes.
Cold Army opened his laptop and logged into the squad's public account after multiple layers of verification.
"Excluding the eight hundred million for the Demonic Bear," he said, "the rest will be divided equally. Bai Yue was the main combat force during that hunt and will take sixty percent of the Demonic Bear's share. Any objections?"
No one spoke.
"Beep."
Transfers completed. Bai Yue glanced at his communicator. His balance had increased by nearly seven hundred million.
"Little Yao," Li Xiao laughed, "this meal's on you."
"Of course." Bai Yue raised his cup of clear tea. "I've relied on everyone these past six months. After this, I'll likely be heading to the headquarters training camp. Be careful out there."
"You don't need to say that," Wang Bing replied. "Your contribution to the team is obvious."
No one resented Bai Yue's rise. A stronger teammate meant higher survival odds—and greater rewards. This hunt alone had proven that. Without Bai Yue, a sudden encounter with the Great Strength Demonic Bear could have meant total annihilation.
After the meal, they parted ways.
Yangzhou City. Mingyue Community.
Inside a quiet villa.
Bai Yue returned home, washed up, and collapsed into bed. Even for a martial artist, half a month in the Wilderness Area left its mark.
As a transmigrator, Bai Yue possessed a golden finger.
A Dao Fruit—newly born, existing within the silent void beyond perception.
Half a year ago, when his memories awakened, he discovered he could sense it. Invisible. Untouchable. Yet undeniably real.
The moment his consciousness made contact, a thunderous sensation struck him. His mind went blank, as if a great bell had rung within his soul.
A mysterious force descended, reshaping both body and spirit.
When Bai Yue regained awareness, everything felt… clear.
His body moved with effortless precision. Though his physical fitness did not rise further, his control improved drastically. His connection to heaven, earth, and nature deepened, every subtle fluctuation imprinting itself into his awareness.
Insights surged. Bottlenecks dissolved.
It was as if a mortal shell had been refined into a congenital Dao Body.
Information flowed from the Dao Fruit into his consciousness. He realized he had only brushed its surface. Pushing deeper was like attempting to move an immovable mountain.
Advancement required growth—either of consciousness or strength.
On Earth, tempering will was difficult. Strength, however, followed a clear path.
Only later did Bai Yue understand the true depth of its influence.
His body had become… fixed. Every improvement solidified. No regression. No loss. No decay.
Once gained, it was eternal.
That was why, in just half a year, he had advanced so far.
