Chapter 3 - Qingshan Camp

On the third page, under 'Spell List,' are Spells that Druids can learn. At his current level, he can learn 0 ring and 1 ring Spells.

He flipped through a few of the simplest 0 ring Spells and silently gave up. Spells were much harder to learn than skills, completely unfamiliar knowledge that required extensive practice. He needed to find a safe place to study them first. Although it was much more troublesome, Lin Chen felt a lot more secure. Things he truly learned himself were truly his. Relying solely on an Apocalypse Game from an unknown origin made him uneasy. He even planned to practice the three languages more.

The next few pages, 'Item Identification,' were for identifying items. Flipping further to the Forum interface, a gray leaderboard area at the top of the page was still inactive. The public chat area below, though activated, was also empty. It was likely that not many people had gained game qualifications yet, and even if they had, they might not have had the chance to post messages there. Looking for information there was less effective than checking online.

Lin Chen thought of this and reached into his pocket for his phone, but found it empty. "Huh? It was clearly in here. I even took it out to check the time not long ago. Did I drop it?" Thinking about it again, he felt it was impossible. Such a large phone, and his hand had been in his pocket the whole time until he took it out when the meteor appeared. It was not anywhere around. Did it disappear into thin air? Never mind. Since something like the Apocalypse Game had appeared, his phone going missing was also normal.

Lin Chen ran back to the edge of the observation deck and gazed out. He saw that the more crowded mountain paths were a scene of utter tragedy, and he could faintly hear screams carried on the wind.

According to what he had heard and seen earlier, a zombie should appear next to everyone. Killing a zombie would grant Apocalypse Game player qualifications and allow them to log into the game. Therefore, places with more people would be more dangerous.

He currently only had one knife, and he had used a trick to kill that zombie. Although he had extensive experience living in the forest, he could fight a lone zombie, but with more than one, he could only flee. So, the safest method was to find a suitable place to use the lord token he had picked up earlier. A territory, after all, should have some protective functions, right?

Lin Chen's first thought was near Bai Lang's cave in the forest. There were some living supplies stored there, and it was sparsely populated. He was also familiar with the terrain. Unfortunately, while there were not many people deep in the forest, there were many dangers, including carnivorous beasts that were more troublesome than zombies. Only the area where the Bai Lang Wolf Pack resided was safe. Normally, Bai Lang would pick him up and drop him off. It would take a long time for him to walk back by himself, so he had to give up on that idea.

However, on second thought, a territory should not be too remote, or it would lack popularity and be difficult to develop. If Bai Lang had not gone to accept his inheritance yet, killing zombies would definitely be no problem for him, and he should quickly come looking for him by scent. At that time, he could have him bring some supplies over.

His next option was to find a nearby place that was sparsely populated, had flat terrain, and was relatively easy to acquire supplies. Moon Lake Reservoir seemed promising?

Moon Lake Reservoir was also within Forest Park, in another direction, in a valley surrounded by mountains. The reservoir was small, but the valley area was not. The valley had dense forests, but it was relatively flat. The mountain path also led there. To get there from the outside, one had to cross a mountain. There should not be many people there now.

The only drawback was that it was relatively far from outside the mountain, so supplies might be difficult to obtain. However, he still had a bottle of water and a few pieces of bread in his bag, which should be enough to last the day.

Lin Chen thought it seemed quite suitable. He was also familiar with the Forest Park roads. He would climb up a section, cross to the other side of the mountain from the mountainside, and then walk down.

Holding his cleaver, he swiftly moved through the forest. After reaching the back of the mountain, he found a spot with a good view and looked down. The area around Moon Lake, shaped like a crescent moon, was indeed deserted and very quiet.

It was not until he got closer to the lake that he discovered a military green tent in the woods, with overturned folding tables and chairs beside it. Near the lake, there were also buckets and fishing rods. Their owners were likely people who had been night fishing there last night. While fishing in the morning, they were attacked by zombies, had an arm bitten off, and were also infected, now wandering near the tent.

Two zombies were a bit tricky, and being bitten by a zombie really did turn one into a zombie. With his short cleaver, close quarters combat was too risky.

However, there were many bushes and thorns in the woods. Even if they spotted Lin Chen, it would be difficult for them to follow. They seemed to only walk straight in his direction, stumbling several times over obstacles on the path, and their movement speed was very slow, roughly equivalent to a person's normal walking speed.

Lin Chen shook them off and ran towards the source of Moon Lake Reservoir. He found a suitable spot and directly used the lord token.

[Please name your territory]

"Since it's near Green Mountain Forest, let's call it Qingshan," Lin Chen quickly typed in the two characters for Qingshan.

[Territory Construction page has been loaded. Please construct your territory yourself.]

The player handbook gained another page: 'Territory Construction.'

[Territory Name: Qingshan Camp (Territory levels are divided into Camp, Village, Town, City. Territory level is comprehensively determined by data such as territory area, facilities, and resident count.)]

[Lord: Lin Chen]

[Energy: 300 (Can be used to create blueprints, rapidly construct facilities, and power facility operation; valuable items can be converted into energy in the territory, such as materials, money, experience, etc.)]

[Scale: 0 (Can define territory boundaries by constructing territory defense facilities.)] [Facilities: None]

[Residents: 1]

[Blueprints: To be designed]

[Rules: To be formulated]

[Materials: None]

A blank string of information. The imagined feeling of a protective shield spreading out as soon as the territory was established was completely absent, as if using the lord token had been for nothing.

Although territory facilities could also be generated with one click like in a game, they required energy, materials, and blueprints. The initial energy was only 300 points.

Blueprints had built in facility templates, and the lord could also design them personally or exchange for existing blueprints. Whether converting a design into a usable blueprint or using the game's built in facility templates, a certain cost, which was energy, needed to be paid depending on the blueprint's situation.

Now, putting everything else aside, he first needed to get a shield to enclose the territory.

Lin Chen opened the blueprint tab and directly viewed the existing territory shield template. There was only one.

[Facility: Territory Shield]

[Function: Protects territory, filters people. Appearance can be changed at will, initially invisible. In its basic state, it can cover a territory of 500 square meters, defend against Level 1 and below attacks. More functions can be added with energy.]

[Required Materials: 100 energy for initial construction. Consumes 10 energy daily in basic state. Expanding range/enabling functions requires more energy.]

[Blueprint Conversion Requirement: 100 energy]

Lin Chen converted the blueprint and constructed it directly. The style was temporarily unchanged, still invisible.

A transparent energy circle spread out, becoming a transparent shield, which quickly disappeared, but Lin Chen could feel the boundary of the shield.

He walked to the edge and tried to attack with his cleaver, finding that he could attack outwards from within, but could not attack inwards from outside.

With this layer of shield, he felt a bit more secure. Although it could only defend against attacks of Level 1 and below, zombies were only Level 1, and no more powerful monsters had been found yet, so it was temporarily sufficient.
