Humans successfully established contact with the beings lurking beyond the veil, forging pacts fueled by a greed for forbidden knowledge, power, and fame.

Unknown to these foolish mortals, they were being deceived. The entities lurking beyond the veil were awakening one of the Elden Aspects. 

In year 2037, their preparations reached completion, and the beings attempted to awaken the Elden Aspect. 

As a byproduct of that, those who had made contact with these entities were transformed into grotesque Nightcrawlers. This mutative plague spread across the Earth, turning the masses into rampaging monsters.

The world was drowned in chaos and stood on the brink of its end. Just then, the Heavenly Principles took notice. It unsealed the Lands Between — a primordial continent that had been sealed within the Earth since time immemorial.

The sealed continent resurfaced, and from within emerged people with supernatural abilities. Many fantastic races, such as elves, dwarves, and dragons, joined forces and fended off this epoch of destruction.

In time, the Earth and the Nightmare Realm began to merge, opening a rift that would provide one of the Elden Aspect.

Two hundred years later, into this reborn world descended Theron Noirvale — a man originally from modern Earth who was once feared as the Heavenly Demon in another world. Now back on his home planet, he begins to uncover the truth about the beings lurking beyond the veils, the Lands Between, the Nightmare Realms, and the Elden Aspect.

But before that lies another mystery — the body he transmigrated into: the body of a regressor. Or perhaps he himself is the regressor, one who sealed away his memories and assimilated them with those of the Heavenly Demon, leaving himself trapped in an illusion of existential crisis.

A person is born with spiritual roots within them. These roots gather spiritual energy from nature. Over time, these roots blend with the spiritual energy and form a sphere called the Soul Sea. This Soul Sea contains Soul Sea Essence, which cultivators use to perform supernatural abilities.


These spiritual roots determine one's future prospects. They are classified into four classes:

There are also people who do not possess any of these. They are rootless.


When spiritual roots blend and form the Soul Sea, it awakens with a unique Trait, similar to a pathway one walks.


There are many types of objects that have primordial energy stored within them. If one breaks them and absorbs the energy residing within, one gains supernatural skills, such as conjuring elements, flying, teleportation, etc. This also depends on one's Aspect. Those with a Wood-related Aspect can only absorb Wood-related Fortes.


Those who have awakened an Aspect and can wield Fortes (skills) are called Aspect Masters


Around the abdomen, a sphere of energy forms known as the Soul Sea. Within the Soul Sea lies a reserve of essence that Aspect Masters use to perform their Fortes or strengthen their bodies like armor. This energy is called Soul Sea Essence. When used, it decreases. One must cultivate to restore it — much like refilling oil in a tank.


After awakening their Soul Sea, Aspect Masters must cultivate to reach higher realms.


Every Soul Realm is considered a major realm and is divided into three smaller stages: the Initial Stage, the Middle Stage, and the Peak Stage.
