Chapter 24 - Chapter 5-3

The afternoon sunlight, usually so gentle, felt strangely cold as Anouk approached the school gates. A security guard, a kind man Jazik had seen wave at students, stepped forward with a polite, questioning look.

"Excuse me, miss," he began, his voice mild. "May I see your student ID?"

Anouk did not pause. Her hand moved with a chilling efficiency, striking the guard's neck in a precise, practiced blow. He made no sound as he slumped to the ground, unconscious before he even hit the pavement. She did not spare him another glance. Her cool, cyan eyes swept across the bustling courtyard, cataloging the students, the faint sounds of distant laughter, the ordinary life she was about to disrupt. Her gaze, sharp and unfeeling, landed on a specific window, one she had been programmed to recognize: Jazik's classroom. Without a flicker of hesitation, she adjusted her path, moving with the unyielding, calm stride of a predator.

The aroma of warm vanilla and melted chocolate now filled the air, a comforting sweetness that chased away the lingering shadows of Jazik's morning nightmare. Each cupcake, a perfectly golden dome with a swirl of rich ganache, felt like a small victory. Juleka took a cautious bite, her copper eyes widening as a soft murmur escaped her. Rose, ever enthusiastic, practically beamed after her first taste.

"Jazik, this is amazing!" Rose declared, her voice a tinkling bell. "You're truly a genius with pastries!"

Juleka nodded shyly, her smile a rare, gentle thing.

"Yeah," she mumbled, "really good."

Even the teacher, a stern woman with a perpetually unimpressed expression, sampled one and offered a genuine, approving nod. Other classmates, usually absorbed in their own worlds, leaned over, their compliments a soft chorus.

Jazik watched, a faint sense of quiet satisfaction settling within him as Marinette took a bite of her cupcake. Her eyes, usually so bright with anxious energy, softened as she chewed, a small smile gracing her lips.

"This is incredible, Jazik!" she exclaimed, her voice light with genuine delight. "It's even better than the bakery's regular ones!"

Alya snatched a cupcake next, her usual confident demeanor dissolving into happy murmurs. "No kidding, Marinette! It's got this... zing to it! What's your secret ingredient?"

Jazik felt a small, almost imperceptible warmth spread through his chest. He simply shrugged, a subtle gesture that hid the flicker of pride.

"Just practice," he mumbled, though the hint of a smile touched his lips.

Nino, after a hearty bite, offered a thumbs-up, his expression relaxed. "Dude, this is seriously good. You could open your own bakery, no problem."

Adrien, ever polite, took a small, careful bite. His green eyes widened slightly, a genuine, unpracticed smile replacing his usual reserved one.

"Wow," Adrien said, his voice soft. "This is truly delicious, Jazik."

Chloé, predictably, sat with her arms crossed, a stubborn huff escaping her.

"Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous," she scoffed, pushing away an offered cupcake.

Jazik managed a small, genuine smile. For a precious moment, the sharp edges of the morning's trauma, the memory of Anouk's cold gaze, and the grim purpose of G.O.D. felt distant, softened by the simple, genuine warmth of shared success. The quiet praise, particularly from Juleka and Rose, settled over his jagged nerves like a soothing balm. This small, ordinary accomplishment, a tangible link to his father's teachings and the peaceful domesticity he had known, affirmed a sense of normalcy he desperately craved. It was a fleeting, fragile peace, but a peace nonetheless.

The cheerful atmosphere of the classroom shattered like delicate glass as the door slammed open, a jarring sound in the quiet room. Anouk stood there, her crimson hair a sharp line against the muted hall, her cyan eyes flat and empty. The pleasant hum of student chatter died instantly, replaced by a sudden, heavy silence.

Ms. Bustier, usually so composed, stepped forward, her voice edged with a touch of indignation.

"Who are you? You can't just barge in here!" she exclaimed, her posture a clear challenge.

Anouk did not acknowledge her. Her gaze moved with unnerving precision, sweeping across the room until it landed on Jazik, a silent, predatory focus.

"Target acquired," she stated, her voice devoid of human warmth. It was a cold, digital declaration that sent a shiver down Jazik's spine, a familiar chill from a life he thought he had left behind. He watched, a knot forming in his stomach, as her hand disappeared into her jacket.

[ZETSUMERISER!]

She reappeared holding a strange, jagged device, black and crimson. She pressed a button on the side.

The device emitted a harsh, digital screech that echoed through the stunned classroom.

[DODO!]

Anouk's movements were fluid, almost too quick for the eye to follow. She jammed the jagged key into a slot on her waist, and the Zetsumeriser clicked into place.

[ZETSUMERISE!]

A vortex of raw, crackling red and black energy erupted around her, swirling with a malevolent grace. Her human skin seemed to peel away like shattered glass, shimmering for a moment before dissolving into the air. Crimson and metallic silver armor snapped into existence, wrapping around her form with sharp, mechanical sounds. The helmet, with its long, curved beak-like faceplate, locked into place with a definitive clack. The room remained frozen in terrified silence, the students wide-eyed and motionless, caught in the sudden, horrifying spectacle. The Dodo Magia now stood where Anouk had been, a stark, predatory presence in the once-ordinary classroom.

"What in the actual Paris is that thing?" Nino shrieked, scrambling back, his chair clattering to the floor behind him.

"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!" Alya gasped, fumbling with her phone, her fingers flying across the screen, trying to capture the impossible sight. "Is this a new Akuma? No, it looks… different."

"Cool…" Juleka murmured, a strange fascination in her eyes as she leaned forward, completely undeterred by the danger.

The air crackled with a silent tension, thick and suffocating, as if the entire world had paused to witness the sudden intrusion of something utterly alien. Jazik's breath caught in his throat. He recognized the cold, mechanical hum, a sound that always meant pain. This was not an Akuma. This was G.O.D. It was here, and it wanted him.

"Hey, you oversized turkey!" Chloé shrieked, her voice cutting through the heavy silence. "You cannot just stomp into my classroom and start acting all... menacing! My father is the mayor of Paris, and if you even think about laying a single finger on me, he will ensure you face the consequences, which will be utterly ridiculous for you, trust me!"

The Dodo Magia, however, ignored Chloé's bluster. Its head, shaped like a bird's skull, tilted slightly as its cyan eyes fixed on Jazik.

[BUARUKU SABERS!]

The twin blades extended from its forearms, glowing with a fierce red energy that pulsed like an angry heartbeat. It swung them in a wide, sweeping arc, and crescent-shaped energy slashes, sharp and silent, tore through the air, heading directly for the clustered students.

"Take cover!" Jazik screamed, the words ripping from his throat. His body moved on its own, a blur of motion driven by instinct. He lunged, grabbing Juleka and Rose by the collars of their uniforms. He yanked them down with a powerful, desperate force, pulling them behind a heavy worktable. The energy slashes screamed past, tearing through the air where their heads had been moments before.

WHOOSH

The projectiles were capable of scattering crowds and isolating targets. Jazik's reflexes, sharp and precise, were a direct result of the intense conditioning he endured during his time in G.O.D. captivity. The classroom wall behind them CRACKED, splintering and smoking as the energy blades carved deep gouges into the plaster. Dust and debris rained down, coating the stunned students in a fine, white powder. The sudden, violent destruction underscored the raw danger now present in their once-safe classroom.

Chloé landed hard, a theatrical shriek escaping her as her designer bag burst open, scattering lip gloss and compacts across the dusty floor.

"Ow! My hip! Do you know how much this skirt cost?!" she wailed, seemingly more concerned with her clothing than the monster still standing meters away.

Jazik, ignoring the blonde's histrionics, moved quickly toward Juleka and Rose, his eyes scanning them for injuries.

"Are you hurt?" he asked, his voice low, a quiet intensity in his gaze.

Rose shook her head, her breath coming in short, quick gasps. "We're okay."

Juleka looked up at him, her face still flushed with a mix of fear and surprise. "We're okay. Thanks to you."

Jazik helped them both to their feet, his touch gentle as his fingers brushed Juleka's arm, a brief, almost imperceptible warmth spreading through his hand. The contact, however fleeting, felt like a grounding anchor in the sudden, terrifying chaos.

He glanced at the Dodo Magia, its cyan eyes still fixed on him, its blades glowing with a hungry light. He knew this monster was here for him, and if he stayed, everyone would become a target. He couldn't let that happen.

"Stay here. Don't move," he instructed, his voice firm, leaving no room for argument. He pushed off the floor with a silent, desperate strength, launching himself directly at the Dodo Magia. His foot connected with its metallic chest in a flying kick, the impact echoing with a sharp CLANG that reverberated through the stunned classroom. The Dodo Magia staggered back a step, momentarily surprised by the unexpected force of the attack. Jazik landed in a low crouch, his eyes never leaving the monster.

"Hey! Ugly! Over here!" he shouted, his voice a raw, desperate challenge. He spun on his heel and sprinted out the classroom door, deliberately leading the creature away from his classmates. The Dodo Magia recovered instantly, its metallic talons scraping the floor as it surged forward, giving chase.

"Jazik!" Marinette screamed, her voice tearing through the air, terror gripping her heart as she watched him disappear.
