Chapter 57 -  Tien Shinhan, A Man Who Aimed to Become an Assassin

At the center of the ring, Yamcha and Tien stared each other down, their hearts both shaken.

This guy is stronger than I expected, Yamcha thought.

So he wasn't just talking big… He really does have some skill, Tien thought back.

It's been a long time since I met someone this evenly matched.

Yamcha suddenly struck a stance and shouted,

"Neo Wolf Fang Gale Fist!"

In that instant, he seemed to turn into a ferocious wolf, charging Tien with savage momentum.

Tien stepped forward just as fiercely, meeting him head-on.

In a blink, the two exchanged dozens of blows.

Goku exclaimed in surprise,

"Yamcha's grown a lot… He's actually fighting Tien evenly now…"

But before his words even faded—

Tien caught an opening and drove a fist straight into Yamcha's abdomen.

Yamcha folded like a shrimp, collapsing to the ground, clutching his stomach as sweat poured off him.

Goku: "..."

I just praised you. Why did you drop so fast?!

Krillin shouted,

"Oh no! Yamcha got hit!"

Tien tried to press his advantage, but Yamcha rolled away and forced himself back up.

He struck a familiar stance once more.

"Let me show you my ultimate move!"

He brought his hands to his waist, palms cupped like a flower bud.

Krillin gasped.

"That's the Kamehameha! He's using it this early?!"

Disguised as Jackie Chun, Master Roshi frowned.

"He's using the Kamehameha already? There's no way that'll hit… Yamcha, you idiot…"

Yamcha finished gathering his ki.

Tien didn't dodge.

Instead, he rapidly formed hand seals, drawing his energy across the surface of his body.

The announcer couldn't help shouting,

"Incredible! After a dazzling exchange of attacks, Yamcha has unleashed the Kamehameha—

and Tien is actually going to take it head-on! Let's see what happens!"

"Kamehameha!"

A roaring blue beam blasted out of Yamcha's hands, shooting straight toward Tien.

Just before it hit—

Tien roared, focusing all his energy into his hands.

The moment the beam struck, it was reflected straight back.

"What?!"

Jackie Chun: "He reflected it?!"

The crowd was utterly stunned.

Yamcha quickly stomped the ground and leaped into the air, barely avoiding his own rebounded attack.

The beam slammed into the tournament wall, blowing a massive chunk apart.

The audience gasped.

"That was close!"

"Thank goodness it didn't hit us!"

But Yamcha had no time to breathe.

Tien had already flown into the air.

With his Flying Technique, he adjusted his position effortlessly and closed in on Yamcha.

Before Yamcha could react, Tien's foot smashed into his abdomen.

Yamcha screamed and was sent tumbling.

Tien didn't stop—he followed up with a brutal overhead slam, smashing Yamcha straight into the ground.

Yamcha's eyes rolled back as he lost consciousness.

The referee hadn't even begun counting yet—

And Tien attacked again.

Using gravity, he dropped from above and drove his knee down onto Yamcha's leg.

"Crack!"

A sickening sound echoed.

Yamcha's leg bent at a horrifying angle.

The crowd broke out in terrified murmurs.

"His leg's broken!"

"That guy's brutal—this is his first tournament, right?"

"The opponent was already unconscious! That's just evil!"

The referee rushed over.

"Yamcha! Wake up!"

But Yamcha didn't respond.

Tien walked over arrogantly.

"Well? What's the result?"

After checking Yamcha, the referee announced,

"Yamcha is unconscious and unable to continue.

Tien Shinhan wins!"

Then he urgently called backstage,

"His leg is broken—get him to the hospital immediately!"

"Roger!"

Puar rushed in, crying.

"Master! Master, are you okay?!"

No response.

Puar sobbed,

"I'll take you to the hospital—Transform: Flying Carpet!"

He turned into a flying carpet, lifting Yamcha off the stage.

Krillin suddenly remembered the Senzu Beans he was carrying.

He ran over.

"Wait, Puar! I have Senzu Beans!

Give one to Yamcha—his leg will heal!"

Puar was shocked.

"Senzu Beans?"

"They're from Korin. They're incredibly rare!"

Without further explanation, Krillin put a bean into Yamcha's mouth.

Perhaps hearing Puar crying, Yamcha barely regained consciousness and chewed.

In an instant, his leg healed completely.

Puar's eyes went wide.

"How is that possible…?!"

"Master, you're okay?!"

Yamcha stared at his leg.

His pants were still torn, but there was no pain at all.

He stood up, even jumping a little.

"My leg was just shattered… and now it's completely fine?!"

Puar nodded in disbelief.

"This is a miracle!"

Puar looked at Krillin.

"That bean must be incredibly precious, right?"

Krillin smiled.

"It's valuable for healing—but not that rare.

Korin still has half a jar left. As long as you climb Korin Tower, you can get one."

Yamcha clenched his fist.

"How humiliating… I lost in one round.

Looks like my training isn't enough.

After this tournament, I'm climbing Korin Tower too!"

Krillin nodded.

"Go for it. With your current strength, you should be able to make it."

Backstage, Goku looked at Tien's sinister expression in silence.

He couldn't understand how someone could later become so righteous after being this cruel.

Tien noticed Goku watching him—especially the Turtle School gi.

He sneered.

"What are you staring at, Turtle School trash?

Be glad you didn't face me—or you'd be the one with a broken leg."

Goku blinked, then smiled.

"Tien, it's not good to be that arrogant.

One day you might be begging me for mercy… and I won't even let you."

Tien laughed.

"Hah! You think you can make me beg? Don't be ridiculous!"

"Let's meet in the finals.

I'll show you what real power looks like."

Tien frowned.

"Finals? Just make sure you don't get knocked out before then."

With that, he turned and walked away.

Goku watched him go, eyes thoughtful.

So this is the Tien who wanted to become an assassin…
