Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Smart Falcon, Why Haven't You Made Any Progress?

At the Satono household:

Kitasan Black and Satono Diamond had just stopped playing together to read the newest Diary entry. These two little ones were currently stunned.

"Life at Tracen Academy is really exciting! Seiun Sky-senpai is amazing, she even goes fishing..."

Kita-chan and Dia-chan held their heads in their hands, reading Mizuki's log with their imaginations running wild. Satono Diamond clenched her fist, immediately ready to lead Kita-chan astray:

"Say, Kita-chan, why don't we skip class to go fishing when the time comes? I'm so curious what that feels like! Just thinking about it seems so interesting and thrilling."

Hearing this, Kita-chan had a troubled expression: "Is that so? I'm just afraid of getting caught. That would be terrible."

Satono Diamond held up a finger: "Then we just have to not get caught!"

"Oh, right!" Kita-chan gave a high-spirited smile.

In Paris, France:

Treve revealed a look of utter frustration:

"Ah, I want to go to Tracen to experience fishing too! It's all Trainer Mizuki's fault for sparking my interest. Montjeu, take me fishing!"

Treve began to act spoiled— who could resist that?

"No can do," Montjeu rejected her heartlessly. They had clearly agreed that the goal was the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Howcould they go fishing?

"Hmph, meanie," Treve huffed and turned her head away, peeking back to see Montjeu's reaction.

"Sigh." Montjeu knew Treve well. Her heart wavered slightly. She wondered if she was being too strict.

But she was also afraid— what if Treve was led astray by that Seiun Sky character?

"WAAAAAHHHH!"

Treve was an expert at faking tears. Before long, she looked as if she was on the verge of a full-on tantrum— something Montjeu desperately wanted to avoid.

"Fine, fine. Just once. But can you even catch anything? And you have to use bugs as bait, you know," Montjeu relented.

"Hahaha! As if I'd be afraid of bugs! But Seiun Sky, huh? I'd actually quite like to meet her. She sounds very interesting."

Treve put her hands on her hips and gave a beaming smile, she had already started searching for fishing gear.

Any onlookers would have to shake their heads at this sight. She certainly knew how to change faces quickly— it looked like a French Fishing Master was about to join the fray...

At that moment, Mizuki's diary updated again.

[As for the next stop, we're heading out to Kyoto Racecourse to soak up the atmosphere and watch Taiki Shuttle's race.]

[This will be my first time watching a race live on-site, so I'm quite looking forward to it.]

[Speaking of which, I'm not very good at booking train tickets. I was actually wondering if I should just get a car and drive there myself.]

[However, just as I was hesitating, Tap Dance City appeared. She seemed to notice I was troubled and took the initiative to help me buy the train tickets.]

[Tap Dance City, having you around is truly my blessing!]

[But man, that girl is just way too lively— she's constantly dancing around Tracen.]

[There's a good saying: Give Tracen a promising talent, and Tracen returns you a weirdo!]

[Oh, I also ran into Hishi Amazon.]

[She's the real heavyweight— the "Finish Line" that all Horse Girls at Tracen pursue.]

At this moment, Tap Dance City saw this and wondered what Trainer Mizuki meant by weirdo. It's surely a compliment coming from someone as strange as Trainer Mizuki, right?

'Miss Mizuki, you've surely been won over by my dance moves too. Hahaha!'

She was incredibly smug. Like a flower, if you give her a little sunshine, she'd bloom.

Meanwhile, at the Miho Dorms:

Hishi Amazon was fuming. At first, she thought it was a compliment— after all, being called the finish line everyone pursues makes it sound like she's incredibly powerful and admired. But then she realized something was wrong.

'The finish line? Isn't that literal?!'

However, Uma Musume all over the world were already stirred up.

In the UK:

"The Finish Line That All of Tracen Pursues?"

Baaeed was stunned when she saw this sentence. Just how strong must this person be for every Uma Musume to treat her as the finish line they need to chase?

One must know that Baaeed hasn't debuted yet, but her strength is already recognized by everyone in Europe. Many say she's likely to become the future Racing Queen of Europe. Yet she didn't expect that before she could even claim that title, Hishi Amazon had already become the finish line for everyone at Tracen.

Is this the extent of Hishi Amazon's dominance? Too powerful!

As Baaeed read Mizuki's diary, she was profoundly shaken. Her competitive spirit began to burn— today's training was nowhere near enough. She had to work even harder so that one day, she could go to Tracen and defeat this hidden powerhouse, Hishi Amazon.

And in Hong Kong:

The Uma Musume named Invincible was also stunned. She loved reading Chinese Wuxia novels, which featured the trope of the "Hidden Master Sweeping the Floor." It seemed Tracen Academy was also full of hidden experts.

Invincible quickly put down her novel, she had to live up to her name and her mother's expectations!

Mizuki had no idea that her casual remarks had caused a massive misunderstanding across the entire world of Uma Musume. As for Hishi Amazon herself, she was likely beyond help in explaining this away. She really wanted to say: "Trainer Mizuki is right, I really AM the finish line of Tracen Academy, but it's the literal meaning, dammit!"

Meanwhile, Yukino Bijin completely ignored all of the talk about the finish line. Her primary focus wasn't on Hishi Amazon, but on the fact that Mizuki almost drove to the racetrack.

"Wow, if I get a license and a car, will I be one step closer to my goal of being a 'City Girl'?"

Yukino Bijin's eyes sparkled. She thought it was a great idea. After all, her dream was to become a beautiful, powerful, and cool city girl like Gold City!

"Okay! When I have time, I'm going to get a driver's license too. It'll definitely help. But wait... if you drive on city roads, there's a speed limit of 30 km/h? That's so slow! It's not even as fast as I can run."

"Being a city girl is just too hard..."

Yukino Bijin looked troubled, but she decided it didn't matter. She'd get the license first. You can never have too many skills.

The diary continued to update:

[Hishi Amazon was out helping because Sweep Tosho from the Ritto Dorms ran away again. That kid is way too mischievous.]

[At this point, I just want to say: Ah, Tosho-chan, you're truly pitiful.]

[Fuji Kiseki and Hishi Amazon eventually teamed up to catch her. They finally nabbed her right before she could get away— the scene was pretty funny.]

[Sweep Tosho kept saying she was going to cast a new spell on them, but she couldn't even escape Fuji Kiseki's clutches. Is that all there is to the little witch?]

At the Ritto Dorms:

Sweep Tosho was furious after reading this. She inwardly yelled for Mizuki to just wait— how dare she doubt her magic? But... "Tosho-chan"?

For some reason, seeing that cute nickname made her feel inexplicably annoyed. A witch like her should be treated as powerful and majestic, not cute!

"Hmph! Magic definitely exists; this diary is the best proof of that! This diary is proof that I can master magic too!"

Sweep Tosho was arguably the happiest person since the diary appeared. She spent every day reading encyclopedias of magic. Today, she learned a spell that could supposedly change someone's height— that sounded fun.

She'd turn Trainer Mizuki into a little girl when the time came. We'll see who deserves the cute nickname then!

At this thought, a satisfied expression appeared on her face.

At the same time, Winning Ticket, Biwa Hayahide, and Narita Taishin were watching this unfold.

"They needed two people to catch her? It seems that even though Tosho-chan is small, she's really fast. Even Dorm Leader Fuji Kiseki couldn't handle her alone," Biwa Hayahide remarked.

"Haha! That just goes to show that being small has its perks! Look at Taishin— she's not tall either, but she runs like the wind. Sometimes I can't catch her no matter how hard I try!" Winning Ticket giggled.

"Ticket, if you keep insulting me with my height, don't blame me for telling your dad about you getting a 33 on your math test," Narita Taishin said, speechless. Can't you just compliment me normally?

"Waaaaah! I'm being framed! Tai~shin~~~ I'm your loyal fan, how could I be insulting you?! Hayahide, look at her, she's being mean to me!" Winning Ticket started crying at the drop of a hat, her tears nearly flooding the room.

This girl was undoubtedly a total dummy.

"Alright, apologize, Taishin. Do you really think she has the brainpower to come up with such passive-aggressive thoughts?" Biwa Hayahide shrugged. Winning Ticket's main trait was her sincerity.

"Honestly..." Narita Taishin rubbed her head. How did she end up knowing such a dummy? But she apologized anyway. She really was at a loss for words when dealing with such an idiot.

Winning Ticket immediately beamed again and started shouting about the "Darby!" once more.

Finally, Mizuki's log reached the final paragraph:

[It's getting late, I'll head back after finishing this.]

[Spica has no training tomorrow— sweet! I can take a day off and wander around Tokyo.]

[Hmm? What's that sound outside?]

[Hokko Tarumae is running her local idol activities again to drum up support for her hometown. It's a bit awkward... I thought there'd be a crowd, but there isn't a single person.]

[This is even more sad that to see in person.]

[To be honest, I sometimes wonder... if I walked up to hard-working Horse Girls like Smart Falcon during their idol activities and said as a villain: 'Huh? Why does no one watch you yet? Compared to before, you haven't made any progress at all.']

[They'd probably cry, wouldn't they?]

[Of course, I'd never actually do that. I believe that one day, they will shine radiantly.]

At that moment, Smart Falcon happened to see Mizuki's diary. She was stunned. Reading that last part, she covered her mouth in shock. She had seen many living saints, but this was the first time she'd seen a living devil. If she actually heard those words, she really would cry.

"Uuuu... I won't give up! I'll treat Trainer Mizuki's words as mental training! I've lost so many times already, I won't be afraid of losing anymore! Aiyayayayaya!"

Smart Falcon let out a shout and began her extra training for the day. Night deepened, and many fell into a dreamland— tomorrow would be an even better day.
