Chapter 85 - Chapter 85: Pet

However, if Locke possessed enough Amethyst Crystals, he could use the soul power contained within them to refine a Highgod-level soul defense divine artifact!

Since he was capable of refining soul defense artifacts, Locke naturally wanted to craft the best possible one for himself.

Aside from the Amethyst Crystals, he also purchased a god-level material defense divine artifact.

There was no helping it. Locke had wanted to buy a Highgod-level defensive artifact as well, but after purchasing the Amethyst Crystals, he no longer had enough inkstones left.

Locke knew very clearly that, barring any unexpected opportunities, he would remain at the god realm for a very long time.

At the very least, before he had completely fused all five Law Profound Mysteries, he had no intention of breaking through to the Highgod realm.

The fusion of Law Profound Mysteries was far more difficult than merely comprehending them.

If he failed to complete the perfect fusion of all five mysteries while still a god, Locke had little confidence that he could reach Paragon after becoming a Highgod.

With each additional Law Profound Mystery successfully fused, the difficulty of the next fusion increased exponentially.

Locke believed that if he could not complete the fusion of all five mysteries at the god stage, then relying solely on the soul transformation brought about by advancing to Highgod would make achieving Paragon virtually impossible.

Perhaps he would remain at the god realm for tens of thousands of years—or even hundreds of thousands, or millions.

Clink.

The sound of chopsticks striking a porcelain plate jolted Locke out of his thoughts.

Glancing at the table and seeing that every dish had already been picked clean, Locke took out over two hundred inkstones from his spatial ring, placed them on the table, then turned and left the inn.

After he departed, the people at the neighboring table were still discussing the identity of the Extreme Cold Demon. Whenever someone proposed a theory that failed to meet the expectations of the others, it would immediately be challenged, refuted, and debated…

Whoosh…

Whoosh, whoosh…

Deep within the forest, a white rabbit with crimson eyes—barely over thirty centimeters long—was fleeing at breakneck speed, as though something terrifying were chasing it from behind.

Judging from the aura it radiated, this was unmistakably a Saint-level magical beast.

In a material plane, a beast of this level would undoubtedly be the overlord of an entire mountain range, a supreme king commanding countless magical beast.

But unfortunately—

This was Hell.

Here, Saint-level magical beasts sat at the very bottom of the food chain.

Of course, that did not mean this red-eyed rabbit was the weakest.

Once a magical beast reached the Saint level, its strength was no longer rigidly constrained by species. In the end, power depended on one's comprehension and application of Law Profound Mysteries.

Herbivorous magical beasts hunting carnivorous ones was hardly unbelievable.

When the red-eyed rabbit reached the edge of a river, it did not hesitate. With a powerful kick of its hind legs, it leapt, attempting to cross the river in a single bound.

Shoom!

At that very moment, a water arrow shot out from the river, streaking toward the rabbit in midair.

Bang!

A violent gust condensed behind the rabbit's hind legs, which it shattered with a single stomp. Borrowing that force, it narrowly dodged the attack.

Clearly, this rabbit was intelligent and knew how to flexibly apply Law Profound Mysteries.

Unfortunately, its luck was poor.

Whoosh!

A stream of water surged upward against the current, twisting through the air before coiling tightly around the rabbit. Moments later, it solidified into a water serpent over three meters long.

"Ji-ji! Ji-ji—!"

Panicked, the rabbit formed whirling gusts around its limbs, condensing them into razor-sharp wind blades that slashed toward the serpent.

Chi-chi-chi-chi-chi…

The blades only produced rippling waves across the serpent's body, dealing no real damage.

Driven into desperation, the rabbit instantly expanded, transforming into a massive form over three meters long and more than a meter tall.

Saint-level magical beasts could freely control their size, but in Hell, large bodies meant exposure—and prey.

Only at the brink of death would a Saint revert to its true form.

If it escaped, good.

If not, perhaps it could draw that terrifying existence over and drag this damned snake down with it.

Any Saint-level magical beast that survived in Hell was far from simple.

Boom!

The sudden expansion caught the serpent off guard. It barely managed to turn its body into flowing water before transforming into a gigantic python over ten meters long, coiling tightly around the rabbit, ready to crush it.

"Hoh—looks like my luck isn't bad. To think I'd run into a magical beast that's comprehended the Water Body Law Profound Mystery."

A calm voice rang out.

To the rabbit, it sounded like salvation.

"Hiss—"

The serpent raised its head.

From the forest, Locke strolled casually to the riverbank.

During his journey toward the Amethyst Thorn Mountains, Locke had encountered this rabbit and toyed with it for amusement.

Who would have thought that today's little chase would reveal a Water-element Saint with decent mastery of the Water Body mystery?

"Hey, Little White," Locke said leisurely.

"Have you decided yet?"

"Do you want to become my pet?"
