Kakashi ignored their anger and swept his gaze across the three of them.

Hmm? That kid Naruto actually has the leisure to be reading a book?

It was a bit unexpected, but he didn't pay it much mind. Kakashi took out two bells from his waist and shook them in his hand.

"Although I'm late, the exercise must still proceed."

"The rules are simple: take these two bells from me before twelve noon. Those who fail to get one..."

Kakashi pointed to the three wooden posts nearby.

"Not only will you get no lunch, but you'll also be tied to these posts."

"Most importantly..." He said in a grim tone. "Those who don't get a bell will be judged as failing and sent straight back to the Ninja Academy to repeat the year!"

"What?!"

Sakura turned pale with shock.

"There are only two bells, which means..."

"That's right. At least one person will be eliminated." Kakashi narrowed his eyes, slightly releasing his killing intent. "So, if you don't want to go back to repeat, come at me with the intent to kill."

"Kill you, huh..."

Naruto closed his book and slowly stood up.

"Sensei, you said it yourself. I hope you... are fully prepared as well."

Suddenly, Sasuke and Sakura both thought of something at the same time. After glancing at each other, they looked at Naruto with complex expressions.

Looking at Naruto's gentle smile, Kakashi suddenly felt an ominous premonition for some reason.

"Then... let the exercise begin!"

As those words fell, Kakashi didn't show the caution expected of a shinobi. He simply reached out.

Slowly, under the watchful eyes of those who treated him like a formidable enemy, he pulled out Icha Icha Paradise from the tool pouch at his waist.

He planned to just casually deal with the three newly graduated brats, not taking them seriously at all.

"Plan A," Naruto pushed up his glasses and said calmly.

As soon as he spoke, a figure flashed in front of Kakashi.

It was Uchiha Sasuke.

After over a month of training from Naruto and the enhancement of the Kokyuu-ho, Sasuke's speed was no longer what it used to be.

Holding a Kunai in a reverse grip, he used the momentum of his sprint to thrust straight at Kakashi's throat.

"Oh?"

Kakashi's eyes shifted slightly. Still holding his book, he leaned back slightly to dodge Sasuke's attack.

But Sasuke's offensive didn't stop.

Kicks, elbow strikes, roundhouse kicks. Sasuke's taijutsu was fluid and fierce, not at all as unpolished as a typical rookie's, with every move aimed at vital points.

Not just speed, but even strength and power delivery techniques are...

Kakashi blocked another of Sasuke's heavy kicks, feeling a slight numbness in his arm. This power was already quite a bit stronger than that of an average Chunin.

It seems I need to get a bit serious.

Kakashi put the book back into his tool pouch.

"As a rookie, to be able to make me serious, you should be proud, Sasuke."

"Hmph, don't look down on me."

Sasuke felt some joy at being praised by a Jonin, but he didn't show it. After a cold snort, his hands quickly formed seals.

"Katon: Gokakyu no Jutsu!"

A massive fireball blasted out at point-blank range, instantly blocking Kakashi's line of sight.

At the same time, over a dozen clones lunged out from the woods on both sides.

"Kage Bunshin?"

Just as Kakashi used the Kawarimi no Jutsu to dodge the fireball, he was entangled by Naruto's Kage Bunshin.

These Kage Bunshin coordinated with Sasuke, actually forming a tight net. Sasuke led the attack, while Naruto's clones were responsible for blocking retreat paths and providing interference.

For a moment, Kakashi, an elite Jonin, was actually suppressed by two Genin and forced into passive defense.

What amazing teamwork... Is this the top and second-ranked students of this year?

Kakashi sighed inwardly, but his gaze gradually became sharp.

However, a Jonin isn't someone you can bully so easily.

Kakashi's body suddenly dropped low, and his Chakra erupted instantly.

"The playtime ends here!"

Swish!

His speed surged instantly, and he vanished from the spot. Before Sasuke could react, a hand reached out from the ground and grabbed his ankle.

"Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu!"

"What!"

Sasuke was shocked. Before he could break free, another figure appeared behind him.

Then came a simple and violent hand-chop. The previously aggressive Sasuke's eyes instantly rolled back, and he slumped down limply.

Unconscious.

"That's one down."

Kakashi brushed the dirt off himself and looked at the surrounding Naruto clones.

"Alright, next..."

"Plan C!"

The remaining Naruto Kage Bunshin didn't panic because their main attacker had fallen; instead, they let out a loud shout.

Almost at the same instant the command was given, Sakura, who had been hiding in the distant bushes, suddenly pulled the steel wire in her hand.

Clack.

The sound of a mechanism triggering rang out.

Kakashi, who was dealing with the Kage Bunshin, twitched his ears.

"Hmm?"

The next second, the clones fighting Kakashi all dispersed of their own accord. Another Kage Bunshin took advantage of the chaos to drag Sasuke away. After roughly snapping a pre-prepared gas mask onto his face, it also chose to disperse on the spot.

"This is..."

A very bad premonition welled up in Kakashi's heart.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Dozens of specially-made canisters hanging from branches and buried in the grass exploded simultaneously.

There were no flames or shrapnel. Only a sky full of thick smoke that appeared a bizarre dark red. And a stench ten times stronger than rotten eggs erupted across the training ground.

"Cough, cough... Blegh... Cough, cough, cough..."

Even for Kakashi, who was wearing a mask, the moment he inhaled the first breath of air, tears and snot began to flow uncontrollably.

A burning heat rushed from his nasal cavity straight to his brain, while the stench penetrated directly through his mask. It made his stomach churn, nearly causing him to lose his fighting capability.

This was the first time he had directly experienced the power of chemical weapons.

Chili powder?! Stench bombs?

Vision blocked, sense of smell failing, breathing difficult. Kakashi fell into an extremely passive situation.

"Now!"

Naruto's muffled voice, coming from behind a gas mask, rang out.

"Detonate!"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Mixed within the smoke were several Kibaku Fuda. The purpose of these Kibaku Fuda wasn't to cause damage. The airwaves from the explosions swirled the chili powder and stench, forming a massive vortex that engulfed Kakashi within.

Flames and toxic smoke intertwined; the entire training ground seemed to have transformed into a chemical battlefield.

These kids...

In the center of the smoke, Kakashi was forced to close his eyes, his hands forming seals rapidly in an attempt to defend.

"Fuuton... Cough, cough, cough..."

Before the technique could be completed, it was interrupted by another fit of violent coughing.

...These tactics are way too dirty.

Meanwhile, on the periphery of the smoke, Naruto pressed his gas mask tightly, watching the roiling toxic mist.

"The effect of this special-grade chili powder is decent, but the stench bombs are still a bit lacking; the formula needs adjustment..."
