Chapter 3 - Ruined Town Outskirts

Next day, Chen Yang woke up early and ready for his destination. There are not many things that allow to take in entrance exam.

In addition to an F-rank black battle suit and black combat boots he is wearing, there is a F-rank blade on his back, that is about one meter long,

The battle suit and combat boots were made from fierce beast hide, making them very tough. When fighting fierce beasts, they were not easily damaged and could also block some damage.

It was also ruled that only single F-rank gears are allowed for every student.

"Martial Arts College Entrance Exam, here I come!"

With a excited gaze, he went towards his school...

The liberal arts college entrance exam in Huang city was held in the teaching buildings of various schools. However martial arts college entrance exam was held in the special zones prepared by officials.

Students needed to gather in their school and then be uniformly transported to the military zone.

Half an hour later, Chen Yang also come to his high school. There are already a big crowd gather there.

Some of them are candidates, while some parents accompanied to their children. They are admonition in the last few words before getting on the bus was to pay attention to safety.

Among the many buses, he found the bus for his class and walked straight onto it.

"Huh? Is that Chen Yang, that only one dare to take martial arts exam with E-rank talent."

"Its because he has space talent."

"Oh, so handsome!"

"..."

His previous body owner is quiet handsome and built good physique. Coupled with the fact that he had rare space talent, this make him quiet famous in his class. Now, he wore a black battle suit and sharp blade on his back, he gave off good impression.

This caused many girls on the bus to cast surprised and fervent gazes at him.

Their class teacher Xu Fan come up and tell his seat number. When their last student participating in the martial arts college entrance exam arrived, he announced, "Everyone is here. Let's go."

More than twenty buses carrying examinees of the Martial Arts journeyed steadily through the city before moving out of the urban area and towards the military sector on the outskirts of the city, guarded heavily by the military.

Soon, the convoy halted at a broad area. One by one, students descended from the buses, their faces tense with excitement and fear.

The environs were heavily guarded.

Every few meters, there were soldiers armed and standing guard, holding high-tech guns, with steel-hard posture. They are exuding a pressure that made the students unconsciously tread softly and lower their voices.

Towards the front of the open space was a hastily erected platform with the obvious purpose of making official statements.

In the background, a metal fence sectioned off a huge area.

Inside the enclosure, the ruins of a destroyed village were evident. There were ruined buildings and streets, which seemed endless as the eye could reach into the distance.

Sometimes, blurry figures appeared in the ruins. Low growls and ferocious roars resonated faintly in the atmosphere. These sounds sent shivers down the spines of the students.

"So… this is where we're taking the exam?"

"Damn, did anyone else just see that monster run by?"

"I swear it had a horn-don't tell me they're throwing One-Horned Rhinos at us this year!"

"You're intentionally fearing me... not you?"

….

The remains within the military zone were once known as Weiyuan Town, a modest settlement that had belonged to Huangcheng's jurisdiction.

Many years ago, a devastating beast surge swept through the area, erasing the town almost overnight. What was left behind were only collapsed buildings, broken streets and endless rubble.

Although the military eventually reclaimed the land, the damage was irreversible. Restoring the town held no real value, so the site was permanently reassigned as combat arena for the Martial Arts College Entrance Examination.

Naturally, the fierce beasts released into the Ruined Town were not deployed at random like during ordinary military drills.

Their types and quantities were strictly selected by the official martial artist and military experts.

Across all top tier cities in Huang Province, the exam sites followed the exact same beast configuration, ensuring that no candidate gained an unfair advantage due to location differences.

The lineup of fierce beasts directly determined the overall difficulty of the examination.

Under normal circumstances, the outer zones of the Ruined Town were populated only by low-threat creatures—common species such as Shadow wolfs or Iron skin Pigs.

Still, history had proven that exceptions existed.

In certain years, even the outskirts had seen appearances of rare and dangerous beasts like One-Horned Rhinos or Arm Blade Tigers.

Whenever that happened, it meant only one thing— That year's Martial Arts exam was significantly harsher, and the probability of casualties rose sharply.

Because of this, when several students caught sight of a One-Horned Rhino moving through the ruins beyond the chain-link fence, their faces drained of color, panic spreading instantly.

"So what if it's a One-Horned Rhino?"

A sharp, confident voice suddenly cut through the uneasy murmurs.

"If you can't deal with something like that, even entering an Ability University would be meaningless."

The speaker stepped forward.

He wore a pale green combat uniform, his posture straight and composed, with a long sword resting naturally in his grasp. There was something about him like a lone swordsman roaming the world.

His eyes were especially striking, sharp and oppressive, carrying the weight of a predator surveying weaker prey.

Several students turned in anger, clearly wanting to retort. But the moment they recognized him, every word died in their throats.

Not a single person dared to speak. This reaction sparked Chen Yang's curiosity. He turned to look at him, he is carrying both a heavy blade and a shield.

"Who's that?" Chen Yang asked quietly with the nearby boy standing to him. "Why's he so arrogant?"

"He is Liu You, an Awakener with a B-rank Transformation Talent—Storm Bear.

Once activated, his body could expand to more than twice its normal size and change with some bear characteristic, drastically increasing his strength. Its said that he is most powerful student this time."

That student standing beside him, replied as curled his lips.
