Chapter 3 - The Golden Sun

Yeon's POV

He was serious.

The guards are morons.

What sort of man is this?

With his orders I am tied with my hands behind my back and stuffed into the carriage.

They don't even know how to give proper care.

Water is still dripping down my body and my clothes are sticking to my body, I am cold.

No one seems to mind that I am sneezing repeatedly.

Idiots.

There are idiots everywhere but royal idiots are…royally so.

I kick my legs and the carriage shakes.

"If you keep that up, we will be forced to throw your body down the mountain" someone from outside the carriage says.

Do it then, moron.

I kick my legs again and immediately a blade pierces through the thin wall of the carriage.

I yelp at the unexpected attack.

The sharp metal goes right above my head and sliced my ribbon, making my hair fall over my face.

I stare at the hole it left behind when it's pulled out by whoever handled it.

Wow!.

First water.

Then arrow.

Now sword.

Fate is really after me.

What next? Earthquake?

The carriage suddenly jostles, throwing me around and there is a loud rumble that follows the shaking.

"I'm just joking" I say and shut my eyes, I really don't want to die.

Again, that is.

I really don't want to, not when my aunt and uncle are still roaming earth with their children and those villagers.

"We will wait here for the storm to pass" the emperor's powerful voice gets to me and I try sitting up as best as I can with my hands behind my back.

The door is opened and the eye gouger-nim glares at me.

"Come out" he says.

"I cannot move" I say with a straight face and he huffs before reaching out his hands to pull me out of the carriage.

"Or you can untie" I say and he forces me forward, causing my legs to kick against each other.

Morons.

"If you curse at me, I will fulfil my personal wish" he says, still roughly pushing me under the heavy rain.

We enter a cave and I sit on the floor, shivering more than I should.

"I'm cold" I say out loud.

"So am I" the eye gouger-nim says and it's my turn to huff.

The floor is damp and cold from the heavy rain, curiously, I turn my head to look for the emperor and find him standing under the rain.

His face is tilted upwards and rain beats down on him.

He is wearing only his inner shirt, the white silk is now translucent and sticking to his body from the rain.

He is built to be an emperor.

My mouth waters as I drink in his physique, his broad shoulders and wide chest, the scars decorating his body like badges of honor.

My eyes drift lower and I catch the sight of black ink on the emperor's lower stomach, the place that leads to his…

He turns his head to the side as though he knows I'm watching and I snap my head to the side.

I would not want to give him more reasons to mock me.

A guard walks to me and throws a cloth on me and I look at it, then look at him, then at it again.

"I will need my hands" I say.

"Did your mother not teach you manners" he says and I growl at him, my blue eyes flashing as I do.

"Untie him" the guard says, holding my eyes.

Eye gouger-nim comes behind me to loosen the ribbon around my wrists and the first thing I do is push my wet hair out of my face.

"Behave" the guard that ordered my loosening says, pointing his finger at me with a stern look.

I don't respond, I snatch the cloth and wrap it around myself instead, mapping out the position of everyone around me.

When the storm lets up, I will run past them into the forest, maybe I will be…

"Everyone! It's time to go! The storm is over" a loud voice calls, killing my plotting and my dreams.

Can I really get away from the emperor?

I am placed in the carriage again, luckily, this time without being tied, my arms are hurting from the few minutes of being tied.

Even if I want to be tied, it shouldn't be like this, it should be on a soft bedding with flowers in the room.

In the carriage, I can see nothing or hear anything no matter how hard I strain my ears.

The carriage eventually comes to a stop and the door is opened for me by a guard that wasn't at the river side with us.

He is rougher than the previous ones and I suddenly miss eye gouger-nim.

I see the emperor's back as he walks into the palace with guards following behind.

Two of them are jointly carrying a large deer.

Oh, he went hunting.

I take the first step to start walking after the emperor when I am yanked back by my cloth.

"Where do you think you're going?" The rude guard asks and I frown at him, "I'm going with the emperor, he asked me to…"

"What does this omega think he is?" the guard roars.

"Look here you, Take him away!" he yells and a guard rushes over to follow his instruction.

Grabbing me and pulling me away.

"Wait! The emperor…" I try to speak but the guard's pull on my clothes is cutting off my air supply.

I can't breathe properly.

"Wait…" I wheeze and then I am thrown on the floor in a new area of the palace where a number of people are.

They all stop their activities to look at the strange new man causing a ruckus.

"Wait, I didn't ask to be employed" I say and the guard pulls out his sword and places it on my neck.

"Then I should kill you?" he asks.

Life in the palace.

"You" a voice calls and I look over my shoulder to see a man dressed in fine clothing.

"That's enough" he commands and the guard puts down his sword.

"Yes my emperor" he says and bows.

The other emperor?

Too bad I never paid attention to my country's monarchy to know which one of the emperors he is.

I bow in respect for him and he walks by me.

"Make him work with the slaves, his pride disgusts me" the emperor says and leaves while I fall to the ground.

The slaves?

No!

I did not die and come back just to end up as a palace slave.

NO!
