Chapter 5 - You Are What I Define

"So you're saying that everyone possesses Prismora… including me?" Veldra asked, his tone measured, seeking confirmation rather than doubt.

"Yes, my Lord," the wolf replied without hesitation.

Veldra's gaze sharpened. "Then you must possess Prismora as well."

"Yes," the wolf answered quietly, lowering its head once more. "But only a minuscule amount so small it is barely worth acknowledging."

Veldra fell silent, threads of understanding slowly weaving together in his mind. The forest seemed distant now, its whispers muted as his thoughts aligned with a singular conclusion.

"So all of this," he said at last, voice steady, deliberate, "is because you do not have a name. And because you lack one, death is inevitable." His eyes met the wolf's. "Which means… if I give you a name, you will no longer fade. You will not be forgotten. You will live near eternally. Is that correct?"

"My Lord!" the wolf cried out, suddenly lifting its head, alarm and reverence colliding in its voice. The ground beneath its paws trembled faintly, as if responding to the surge of emotion. "Please-!"

"Oh, it's fine," Veldra interrupted gently, raising a hand. His expression was calm, almost serene. "You said it yourself. I possess an infinite amount of Prismora, did you not?" A faint, knowing smile crossed his lips. "That means I can name you without consequence."

"My Lord-" the wolf began again, its voice strained, caught between awe and fear.

"Lucien."

The name fell into the world like a decree written into reality itself.

"That is your name from this point forward," Veldra declared.

Immediately, a radiant light burst forth, engulfing Lucien in a brilliance so pure it seemed to drown the forest itself. The glow did not merely illuminate, it asserted, cascading like liquid starlight and wrapping around Lucien's form as if reality were rewriting it stroke by stroke.

After a few seconds, the radiant light dimmed, fading away like withered leaves on a withered tree.

Lucien's form began to change.

The towering wolf folded inward as if guided by an unseen hand, its massive frame compressing, reshaping, refining itself with deliberate precision. Bone and muscle realigned in silence, not with violence, but with reverent inevitability. In moments, the beast gave way to a humanoid silhouette, tall, imposing, and perfectly balanced.

He stood at seven feet tall, a being sculpted from pure muscle and restrained radiance. Power lay coiled beneath his skin, not brutish, but elegant, controlled. His once-amber eyes dimmed, then flared anew, now infused with a soft, celestial gold, like sunlight filtered through heaven itself.

White hair spilled from his head in smooth, unbroken strands, flowing like a tranquil river, cascading down his back until it brushed against his waist. Each strand caught the lingering light, shimmering faintly as if woven from dawn. His features were striking, beautiful in a way that felt almost unreal, radiant, mesmerising, and undeniably otherworldly. He stood just slightly taller than Veldra, yet there was no arrogance in his posture, only quiet reverence.

Then the light condensed.

A robe formed around him, descending as though summoned by the name itself. It was white, immaculate, luminous, and alive with gentle radiance. The fabric clung to his frame while remaining impossibly light, its length trailing to the ground as if it were meant for a greater, unseen stature. Beneath it, black trousers manifested seamlessly, settling into place with effortless precision, grounding the divine presence in stark contrast.

Lucien stood motionless, his gaze locked onto Veldra's eyes. Within them burned unwavering loyalty, tempered by a profound kindness, a devotion so absolute it felt carved into his very soul. Without hesitation, he lowered himself, kneeling at Veldra's feet. The movement was fluid and reverent, his pristine robe flowing without resistance, enveloping him as though the fabric itself understood submission.

"Thank you, my Lord," Lucien said solemnly. His voice was deep and layered, majestic and divine, rolling through the forest like the decree of a sovereign. The trees seemed to listen, the air trembling faintly with each word. "Though my loyalty has already been vowed to you for eternity, grant me the honour of being of use until my final breath. Until death itself dares to part us, my Lord."

Veldra regarded him in silence, the weight of the moment settling heavily between them. Then he spoke, his voice calm yet absolute, carrying the quiet authority of one who defined reality rather than obeyed it.

"You are what I define you to be. You are no longer nameless. You are an identity, an extension of my very being."

The words resonated, sealing an unbreakable bond.

"Stand, Lucien," Veldra commanded.

Lucien rose at once. His robe straightened as though guided by unseen hands, its folds falling perfectly into place. His posture aligned into flawless discipline, back straight, shoulders set, presence composed, yet his eyes never met Veldra's again. His head remained respectfully lowered, reverence and obedience etched into every line of his form.

Veldra, satisfied with what he had witnessed, closed the status window with nothing more than a thought. The faint shimmer of its edges dissolved into the air, leaving only a sting in the atmosphere.

Without another word, he turned away from Lucien, his expression unreadable, and began to walk. Each step was measured, deliberate, carrying the quiet weight of someone accustomed to defining their own path. The hem of his cloak brushed the grass with soft rustles, blending seamlessly with the whispering of leaves and the distant call of birds.

Lucien, noting the unexpected movement, quickened his pace, his foot barely making a sound against the soft earth. His white robe caught stray beams of sunlight, glimmering like molten silver with every step, yet his focus never wavered from Veldra.

"My Lord… where are we going?" Lucien asked, voice steady yet laced with uncertainty, echoing faintly between the trees. There was a note of hesitation, a subtle ripple of doubt; he had expected orders, certainty, or even a question, but none came.

Veldra's pace slowed slightly, a rare pause in his otherwise unwavering stride. His voice, when it came, was calm, almost detached, tinged with an honesty that made Lucien stop in his tracks. "I… don't know," he admitted.
