Chapter 2 - Chapter-2(Elin’s Childhood & First Signs)

Elin's early years were marked by a strange mixture of wonder and unease. Though she was just a toddler, she often stared at empty corners of the room, following invisible movements with her wide, curious eyes. Her parents initially dismissed these episodes as mere imagination, but Elin's grandmother, who occasionally came to visit, noticed something unusual.

"Listen, there's something different in this girl's eyes." her grandmother whispered to Elin's mother one evening. "She's not just seeing shadows; there's more to it."

Elin's mother frowned, trying to hide her unease. "Grandma, she's just a child. All kids imagine things."

But Elin's grandmother only shook her head. "No, child, this is different. Protect her, and guide her gently. She will understand soon."

As Elin grew, the strange occurrences became more frequent. Toys that had been left in one corner mysteriously moved to another, and faint whispers sometimes floated through the nursery at night. Elin would giggle softly when others were asleep, pointing to invisible companions she called her "little friends".

By the age of five, Elin's curiosity about the unseen world grew into fascination. She loved wandering through the garden, feeling as if unseen beings guided her steps. Once, while picking flowers near the old oak tree, she saw a small boy dressed in white standing by the roots.

"I know you," Elin said softly, tilting her head. "Are you the one Mama always talks about?"

The boy smiled, though his face was still partially hidden in shadow. "Yes, Elin. I've been waiting for you. I will protect you."

Elin felt neither fear nor surprise; instead, a comforting warmth spread through her. She felt a strange connection with this boy, a bond that she couldn't yet explain.

At home, Elin's parents noticed subtle changes in her behaviour. She would often talk to herself, as if carrying on conversations with someone invisible. Her father, initially sceptical, began observing her closely. One night, he heard her murmuring softly, "Don't worry, I'm here. I will help you, always."

Her mother, too, became cautious. She began to keep the windows and doors secured, worried about unseen forces entering their home. Yet, despite the oddity, she couldn't deny that Elin seemed happier and more confident whenever she interacted with her invisible friend.

School brought new experiences for Elin. Children her age were fascinated by her tales of the "boy in white" and the "whispers" she heard. Some laughed and called her imaginative, while others whispered among themselves, unsure of what to make of her claims. Elin, however, felt a quiet pride. She knew that her friend was real, even if no one else could see him.

By the age of seven, Elin began to notice more unusual abilities. Objects would shift slightly when she focused on them, and the air sometimes shimmered around her. On her seventh birthday, she received a small mirror from her parents. While looking into it, she saw not only her reflection but also faint outlines of winged figures hovering silently behind her.

Elin blinked, and the figures vanished. She didn't tell anyone, not even her parents. Deep down, she felt a thrill of anticipation. She was beginning to understand that her life was not like other children's lives. There was a purpose to these experiences, a destiny waiting to unfold.

The whispers of her unseen friend grew clearer. "Elin, your path is special. Learn, observe, and trust your instincts. There is much to discover."

Elin's heart raced at the words. Every night, she would lie in bed, imagining the adventures that awaited her. Sometimes, she would even fall asleep with a faint smile, dreaming of strange lands, hidden powers, and a mysterious boy in white who seemed bound to her fate.

Her parents, meanwhile, grew increasingly aware that something extraordinary surrounded their daughter. Yet, they couldn't fully grasp it. Her father, especially, felt a mixture of fear and awe. "Is she safe?" he often wondered silently, glancing at Elin as she played in the garden. "And what does the future hold for her?"

Elin's grandmother, observing from afar, nodded knowingly. "She is protected," she whispered. "But the journey has only begun."

It was during these early years that the first signs of her unique connection with the unseen world emerged. Elin discovered that she could sense emotions, almost like an echo from invisible beings. When someone was sad, she felt a subtle heaviness in her chest; when someone was joyful, warmth filled her small hands. It was confusing at first, but over time, she learnt to control these sensations.

One particularly stormy evening, lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating the nursery. Elin felt a surge of energy, stronger than ever before. She stood by the window, her small hands pressed against the glass, watching the rain pour outside. And then, she heard it clearly:

"Do not be afraid, Elin. Your destiny is coming."

The words echoed in her mind, resonating with a certainty that made her shiver with excitement. That night, she dreamed vividly of a world where humans and unseen beings coexisted, where love and courage intertwined, and where she would play a crucial role. She woke up feeling a new strength coursing through her veins, ready to face whatever lay ahead.

From that day, Elin's bond with the boy in white deepened. He appeared often, sometimes in fleeting glimpses, sometimes in dreams, always guiding her gently, always watching over her. She knew that her life would never be ordinary, but instead, it was destined to be filled with mystery, adventure, and the delicate threads of love and loyalty between worlds seen and unseen.

And so, the earliest years of Elin's childhood passed with wonder, small joys, and strange occurrences, each preparing her for the greater journey ahead—a journey that would reveal her true powers, her place in the mystical world, and the enduring love that awaited her in the most unexpected forms.

As days passed, Elin slowly began to realise that her life was walking a path very different from other children. While others played carelessly, she often felt an invisible presence guiding her thoughts. Sometimes, she would suddenly stop in the middle of play, sensing someone calling her name softly, though no sound reached the ears of others.

One afternoon, while returning from school, Elin felt unusually uneasy. The air felt heavy, and the sky seemed darker than usual. As she walked faster, clutching her small schoolbag, she sensed footsteps behind her. When she turned around, no one was there. Yet the feeling of being watched didn't fade.

That night, her dreams became clearer than ever.

She found herself standing in a vast open field, illuminated by a pale silver light. The boy in white stood before her, closer than ever before. For the first time, she could see his eyes clearly—deep, calm, and filled with an emotion she couldn't yet understand.

"Why do you always come to me?" Elin asked, her voice trembling slightly.

"Because you are connected to both worlds," the boy replied softly. "And because I promised to protect you."

"Who are you?" she asked again.

The boy smiled sadly. "Not yet. When the time is right, you will know everything."

When Elin woke up, her heart was pounding. Though fear briefly touched her, it was quickly replaced by a strange comfort. She felt that no matter what awaited her in the future, she would not face it alone.

At school, subtle changes began to appear. Teachers noticed that Elin was unusually perceptive for her age. She often answered questions before they were fully asked, and sometimes she knew things she was never taught. Some teachers praised her intelligence, while others quietly worried that she was "too different".

Her classmates, however, were less kind.

"She's weird," some whispered. "She talks to air," others laughed.

Elin pretended not to hear them, but their words left small wounds in her heart. During lunch breaks, she often sat alone, gazing at the sky or tracing patterns in the dirt. Yet even in loneliness, she felt accompanied—an unseen presence sitting beside her, silently offering comfort.

At home, her parents noticed her growing silence. Her mother would gently stroke her hair and ask, "Is everything alright, Elin?"

Elin would smile faintly and nod. She didn't know how to explain what she felt—how could she tell them that another world whispered to her every day?

One evening, during a power outage, the house was plunged into darkness. Elin's parents lit candles and tried to reassure her, but Elin felt calm. In the flickering candlelight, she saw faint shadows moving gracefully along the walls, as if dancing.

Suddenly, the flame of one candle flickered wildly.

"Elin," a familiar voice whispered, "do not fear the dark. Darkness is not always evil."

Her mother gasped as the candle steadied itself.

"Did you see that?" her father asked, confused.

Elin remained silent, her heart racing. She knew—this was no coincidence.

That night, Elin realised something important: the unseen world was slowly revealing itself to her, piece by piece. And whether she wanted it or not, she was being prepared for something far greater than childhood dreams.

Before falling asleep, she whispered softly into the darkness, "I'm scared… but I won't run."

A gentle breeze brushed her cheek, though the windows were closed.

"You are brave," the voice replied. "And your journey has only begun."

One day, during class at school, She went out to go to the washroom. Suddenly, the door to the washroom wouldn't open. It was very tightly fastened, and no child of her age could open it. But she suddenly opened it with a very strong push of her hand. She was surprised; where did she get so much strength from?!

At that day in nighttime, Elin drifted into sleep, she felt a quiet determination grow within her. Whatever secrets her life held—whether joy, sorrow, love, or fear—she would face them all. Because deep within her heart, she knew that her existence was tied to a mystery older than time itself, and her fate was already unfolding.
