Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: I want her

EVANDER

I walked into my room feeling like my head was about to split open. Between the Council's crap and that new girl Isadora showing up, I was done. I just wanted to crash. Then I heard splashing coming from the bath area.

"Hand me the towel," Ember snapped from behind. She sounded like a tiny, wet general. "And don't even think about being slow like you were earlier. If you keep acting like a bunch of stuck-up brats, I'm telling Evander to put you on laundry duty for a month. See how you like scrubbing my socks."

I actually felt a corner of my mouth twitch. She was really giving it to the maids. I reached out, grabbed the thick linen towel, and walked over. I held it out near the edge of the curtain. Her arm poked out—wet, steaming, and shimmering in the candlelight, and snatched it from my hand.

"And another thing," she started, her voice getting all high and frantic. "Ow! Crap! The soap... it's in my eyes! It stings like hell!"

She started scrubbing at her face with her palms, which only made it worse. I didn't think twice. I just stepped into the steaming little nook, grabbed a fresh cloth, and dipped it in the clean water basin.

"Hold still, little light," I said. My voice was low, vibrating in the small space.

I leaned over and carefully wiped the soap from her eyelids. She stayed perfectly still for a second, her breath hitching as I worked. She was shivering from the heat, her face all flushed. Then, her nose crinkled. She sniffed the air.

"Arrogant alpha," is that you?" …she asked with her hands still rubbing her eyes.

"Uhmmm… stay still," I replied.

"Aah!" She screamed, nearly flipping the copper tub as she jumped back. She scrambled to wrap the towel around herself, clutching it so tight her knuckles were white. "What are you doing here? You creep! You can't just sneak up on a girl like that!"

Little light, seems you are forgetting this is my room." I replied; with no guilt ,admiring her beauty.

I felt my face heat up. My wolf was so lost in her sight that it made my middle twing with sexual sensation.

"Get your fucking control ," I muttered to myself.

" Leave!!…stop staring," she yelled, pointing to the exit.

I had froze, I found my feet too heavy to move. I just stood there watching her hair sticking to her neck, water dripping off her shoulders—it hit me like a punch to the gut. "Damn , she so pretty," I muttered as I sip in my saliva trying to control my mind .

She kept talking and trying to push me out but I couldn't hear what she was saying. My mind was smitten by her beauty.

After a while of her endless warning, I looked away, trying to act like I wasn't bothered.

"Chill out," I muttered, crossing my arms. "I've seen better. Don't worry, you aren't really my type anyway. Too skinny. Like a little bird."
