Chapter 16 - Chapter Sixteen: "Law" and "Regulations"

Rongcheng University Main Teaching Building, Lecture Hall Seven.

The large lecture hall, capable of holding two hundred people, was packed to capacity. Today was Professor Yan Jun, the former dean of the Law School and a nationally renowned legal authority, teaching his public course on "International Law." This professor was notoriously strict and had zero tolerance for truancy, lateness, or leaving early, so few dared to skip his classes.

Last night, after Ning Qiaoqian left, Chen Yang drove his pink GTR sports car back to Rongcheng University. By the time he parked, it was already past 11 PM.

Although exhausted from the previous night, Chen Yang still got up early and insisted on exercising in the C-field. Because Professor Yan's class was in the morning, Chen Yang deliberately got up even earlier, allowing ample time to return to his dormitory to shower and change after his workout.

Chen Yang and Han Song sat in their seats, talking quietly. While chatting with Han Song, Chen Yang occasionally glanced towards the classroom door. When he saw a girl in a white linen dress, her long hair flowing, carrying textbooks, walk into the classroom, a gentle smile appeared on his face. He stood up, waved to her, and called out loudly:

"Su He! Over here!"

Su He looked up and saw Chen Yang. Her eyes lit up with joy, and a slight smile appeared on her lips as she smiled at Chen Yang before walking towards him.

Han Song gently nudged Chen Yang and said with a smile:

"Third brother, I was wondering why you called me so early to save a seat, and an extra one at that! So it was for the campus belle, Su He!"

Ever since Chen Yang and Su He were spotted walking together on campus by Cao Xiao, Chen Yang had been interrogated by his roommates that night. Although Chen Yang stubbornly refused to admit it, everyone knew that his relationship with Su He was special.

Today, Su He's major also needed to take this course, so Chen Yang had asked Han Song to come early to save a seat for her.

Su He gracefully walked to Chen Yang's side. Chen Yang took the book from her hands and then considerately pulled out a chair for her. Su He turned and smiled at Chen Yang before sitting down.

Su He was a well-known "commoner beauty" at Rongda University, a goddess in the hearts of many male students. Posts and pictures discussing Su He were frequently seen on the university's forum, so most of the students in the classroom knew her. Seeing Su He and Chen Yang's familiar relationship, many who knew Chen Yang were incredulous and began whispering among themselves.

"Did I see that right? Chen Yang quietly managed to win over Su He's campus beauty?" This was from an envious person.

"Yeah! Su He's taste is terrible! This guy has no money, and he's not even as good-looking as me!" This was from a jealous person.

"There are hidden talents among ordinary people!" someone else exclaimed repeatedly.

At Fuzhou University, many men pursued Su He, including numerous sons of high-ranking officials and wealthy families. Su He had always been aloof and unapproachable; no one had ever seen her so intimate with a boy, especially with a complete nobody like Chen Yang, which shocked many.

Chen Yang ignored the strange looks from the crowd. After Su He sat down, he sat down next to her and introduced her with a smile:

"Su He, let me introduce you. This is Han Song, our dorm leader, a real tough guy from Northeast China!"

"Hello!" Su He smiled slightly at Han Song.

"Hello! Hello!" Han Song replied hastily. He seemed slightly nervous in front of Su He, the university's most beautiful girl. Chen Yang glanced at the nervous Han Song, then grinned mischievously at Su He and said,

"Han Song is my good brother and friend. I don't have many friends, only three in total. One is ordinary, one is artistic, and the other is him..."

Su He paused, but the quick-witted girl immediately understood the implication of Chen Yang's words. She couldn't help but smile, gently punching Chen Yang and saying coquettishly,

"Chen Yang, you're so naughty!"

Han Song's IQ clearly dropped significantly in front of a beautiful woman. Jiang, still nodding and smiling foolishly after hearing Chen Yang's words, only realized what was happening after Su He said those words. He immediately blurted out loudly:

"Chen Yang! You're the one who's a idiot! Your whole family..."

Han Song suddenly remembered that there were beautiful women present, and such vulgar words were clearly inappropriate. He quickly shut his mouth, then gritted his teeth and whispered to Chen Yang:

"Third brother, you womanizer!"

"Shh!" Chen Yang put his index finger to his lips, signaling him to be quiet. Han Song and Su He both looked at Chen Yang curiously. Chen Yang raised his hand to check his watch and said:

"Professor Yan is here!"

"Tch, who are you trying to fool!" Han Song thought Chen Yang was being deliberately mysterious. Chen Yang ignored Han Song, glancing at his watch and softly counting:

"Three, two, one! Enter!"

As soon as Chen Yang finished speaking, the front door of the lecture hall opened, and a sprightly elderly man with a full head of silver hair strode into the classroom carrying a stack of lesson plans. The classroom, which had been filled with various noises, instantly fell silent. The old man placed the lesson plans on the podium, then turned on his computer and began methodically preparing for the class. Han Song stared at Chen Yang from head to toe as if he were an alien. Su He, equally curious, couldn't help but ask softly, "Chen Yang, how did you do that?"

Chen Yang grinned and said, "Actually, I'm a fortune teller. I've long transcended the Three Realms and the Five Elements. For something as trivial as predicting someone's whereabouts, I don't even need to use my fingers!"

"Damn! You've been reading too many novels! Why don't you just say you're a cultivator?" Han Song, who had been listening intently, couldn't help but mock Chen Yang's nonsensical answer.

"Oh! You figured it out! Looks like I need to consider killing him to silence him!" Chen Yang said seriously.

The two bantered, while Su He watched with a smile.

Chen Yang's gaze fell on the podium, a complex expression in his eyes. Professor Yan was meticulously preparing his slides. Looking at this renownedly rigorous old man, Chen Yang was filled with mixed emotions. The elderly man before him was one of the private tutors hired by the Fang family for Chen Yang in his previous life. Professor Yan Jun, a nationally renowned legal authority, enjoyed an extremely high reputation in the field. In his previous life, Chen Yang studied law under Professor Yan, specializing in international law.

Chen Yang was also very familiar with Professor Yan's habits. This stubborn old man was meticulous to the point of being rigid. Every time he taught Chen Yang, he would arrive five minutes early to prepare, almost without fail. Unexpectedly, even after Chen Yang's rebirth, Professor Yan's habit remained unchanged.

As Chen Yang was lost in thought, the class bell rang. Professor Yan took off his reading glasses, stood up, cleared his throat, and said:

"Students! In this lesson, we will learn about the relevant content of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea..."

Watching Professor Yan's eloquent figure on the podium, Chen Yang felt a sense of temporal displacement. In his previous life, when Professor Yan lectured him alone, he was just as meticulous.

Professor Yan's lectures were excellent. Unlike many teachers who rigidly list theories, he excelled at explaining professional knowledge in simple and easy-to-understand language, weaving in many vivid examples. Therefore, although Professor Yan was strict, his students generally enjoyed his classes.

Chen Yang, however, felt a little bored. He had already mastered this knowledge in his previous life, and hearing it again from the same teacher was indeed somewhat tedious.

Turning to look at Su He, who was diligently taking notes, Chen Yang suddenly remembered a dry legal joke. He leaned closer and whispered to Su He,

"Su He, I have a professional question I'd like to ask you."

Su He put down her pen and turned to look at Chen Yang.

Chen Yang asked seriously:

"We always talk about law, but do you know the difference between 'law' and 'statute' in the word 'law'?"

Su He, unaware that Chen Yang was joking, tilted her head, thought for a while, shook her head, and said:

"I haven't really looked into that question. Isn't that how the word is always used?"

Chen Yang smiled mysteriously and asked:

"Want to know the answer?"

Su He's interest was piqued. She blinked her beautiful eyes and smiled, saying:

"Yes!"

"Let me give you an example!" Chen Yang said, suppressing a laugh, "For example, you found a boyfriend, and you go back to tell your grandma..."

He paused deliberately, and Su He quickly glanced at him, a shy expression on her face. Chen Yang continued,

"If you tell Grandma your boyfriend is a 'lawyer,' she'll be very happy, right? But if you tell her your boyfriend is a 'mage'..."

Chen Yang chuckled mischievously. Su He had thought Chen Yang was discussing academic matters, but now she realized he was joking. She playfully punched his broad chest. Perhaps thinking of how she had told her grandmother she had a "mage" boyfriend, Su He couldn't help but giggle, her body trembling with laughter.

At this moment, Professor Yan's sharp gaze swept over them, and he said:

"For the next case, let's have another student analyze it, the fifth student from the left in the seventh row!" Professor Yan's piercing eyes were fixed on Chen Yang as he continued, "It's the student who was just flirting with a girl! Don't look, it's you!"

Everyone burst into laughter, and about two hundred pairs of eyes turned to Chen Yang. Facing their gloating gazes, Chen Yang awkwardly touched his nose, stood up, and looked towards the podium. Professor Yan's intense gaze was also fixed on him, his expression unfriendly. Su He, on the other hand, felt her heart pounding, her face flushed red with embarrassment, and she lowered her head deeply.

Han Song, standing to the side, kept his eyes straight ahead, but muttered under his breath:

"Brother, I can't help you this time either! I'm completely clueless about this case, just like you!"
