"I'm sorry."
Oh? That was out of the blue.
"You didn't do it," her gaze softened again. She wanted to touch his hair and give it a little pat. It must have been quite frustrating to grow up in front of a father like that.
"You know nothing," he replied, sounding a little too determined and stubborn. As if he was the one behind all of this.
"Then tell me what's wrong, okay? What could go so wrong that you would have to send me away with the last person you want me to be around?"
Even though Alexis was completely exhausted, she tiptoed on her tired legs and cupped Arthur's cheeks. He probably didn't shave for one or two days. It was already itchy on her hands.
Arthur exhaled a sigh and placed his own palm over her hands, slowly loosening the grip, gaining displeasure on Alexis's face. He would indeed rather not send her with that guy if he had a choice.
"It's not like that. It's not safe here."
Alexis suddenly shivered in a cold sensation over losing his touch.
