Chapter 2 - C2 – Matriarchal

"..."

I was just an unlucky guy, living a trashy life And now, somehow, I've transmigrated to another world.

It still feels like a dream… But for me, this is reality now.

The world I transmigrated to is… different.

To put it simply this is a matriarchal society, a world where women rule.

For someone who grew up surrounded by men in power, it's a strange shift. I realize this world isn't just ruled by women. It's built by them.

They call this world Earth too, but don't let the familiar name fool you. Here, there are only seven nations, and each one has its own flavor, culture, and influence:

Brinova – A strong, stoic land with deep Slavic and European roots.

Calvaria – Warm, passionate, and rich in biodiversity.

Norwyn – A northern country of snow and steel. Known for its advanced technology, social welfare, and calm, rational society.

Zaratha – Rich in oil, history, and ancient beauty.

Estenmark – A coastal nation with a Northern European vibe.

Tirevia – A democratic nation in the heart of the continent. Balanced, practical, and home to thinkers and inventors.

Mondira – Lush and spiritual, this island nation. Bright colors, monsoon rains, and ancient temples dot its landscape.

Huh… what a strange world. But there's something different about this one magic exists here. So transmigrating like this… it's not all that strange.

As I dig deeper into my memory, I start to remember.

About 35 years ago, this world was ruled by men. Everything seemed normal until one day, a gate suddenly opened in the middle of the city. And from it… monsters came out.

Modern weapons were useless against them. Guns, tanks, even bombs they did nothing. Panic spread. Cities fell. Humanity trembled.

But then, something unexpected happened.

Girls just ordinary girls began awakening magic. One by one, they stepped forward, wielding powers no one had ever seen before. They fought the monsters… and won.

Boys, on the other hand, rarely awakened magic. And so, over time, the balance of power shifted. Women became stronger. They rose up. And eventually… they took control.

That was the beginning of a new age.

The Hunters Era.

I walked over to the dining table and took a seat in one of the wooden chairs. Across the room, my new mom, Celeste, was busy preparing breakfast.

One by one, she brought the dishes to the table—steaming eggs, warm bread, fresh fruit. Then finally, she sat down across from me.

She glanced at me, her eyes soft but watchful. I must've looked lost in thought, because she tilted her head slightly and asked, "What's wrong?"

Zayne—still trying to figure out what to do in this strange new world—was pulled from his thoughts by her voice. He blinked, then forced a smile.

"I was just thinking… you look gorgeous today," he said with a little laugh, trying to lighten the mood.

Celeste paused, surprised by the sudden compliment. Then she chuckled softly and looked away, her cheeks warming.

"Don't talk nonsense," she said with a shy smile. "I'm already an old woman. You don't need to flirt with me."

"You really do look beautiful today, Mom," I said casually while chewing on a piece of toast.

Celeste laughed softly at my words, then picked up her fork and started eating. "You really know how to tease an old woman," she said with a warm smile.

As we ate in quiet for a moment, she looked up at me again. "You're already eighteen now, Zayne," she said, her voice calm but serious. "Have you thought about what you're going to do next?"

I paused, lowering my eyes to the plate.

Of course I had. I'd been thinking about it nonstop since I woke up in this new world.

Just like those other transmigrators from Earth, I wanted to explore, to go on an adventure, to dive into the Gates and fight monsters like the heroes in the stories. But… reality was harsh.

Only Hunters were allowed inside the Gates—those terrifying rifts that connected our world to another, where deadly monsters lurked. Modern weapons didn't work in there. Only mana did. And regular people? They were just cannon fodder.

The Hunters' Union made sure no one without awakened magic could even set foot near a Gate.

Here, kids entered the Hunter Academy at age sixteen. They trained for two years in hopes of awakening magic and becoming official Hunters. But most didn't awaken anything. They were left behind. Cast aside. Just like me.

A few days ago, I completed the full two-year course. I even went through the mana check again. Nothing. I didn't awaken a single drop of magic.

My dream of becoming a Hunter—of getting revenge on the monsters who ruined everything—shattered just like that. I locked myself in my room for days. Depressed. Hopeless.

That's when Celeste came. She entered my dark room without a word and quietly laid down beside me, wrapping her arms around me. Trying to comfort me.

Everything makes more sense now. The warmth. The softness. Though, I have to admit… She suffocated in my new body's previous owner in sleep—thanks to her huge breasts.

I let out a bitter little laugh to myself as I chewed.

Celeste glanced at Zayne, noticing how quiet he'd gone again. She let out a small sigh and spoke gently.

"You don't have to push yourself to work if you're not ready," she said. "Your sister's already a Hunter and earns more than enough. But… if you ever want to help out, you can come work at my shop. This old woman could use an extra pair of hands."

Zayne looked up at her. She owned a small grocery store just down the road—not too big, but always full of customers. It wasn't a bad idea, actually.

After all… he was a male in this world.

And Zayne wasn't just any guy—he was handsome, tall, and well-built. In this matriarchal society, men were seen as weak, fragile, and, frankly, not very useful. Most weren't expected to do much except stay safe.

But if you were good-looking?

Then women would line up just to pamper you, protect you, take care of your every need. That's why so many women didn't like the idea of men becoming Hunters. Too dangerous. Too risky.

A handsome man running around in deadly Gates filled with man-eating monsters?

Unacceptable. So maybe… working at his mom's shop wouldn't be so bad.

For now.

And after that, when the time was right… he'd find a way to become a Hunter.

No matter what it took.

I smiled softly and said, "I'll help you at the shop, Mom. You work so hard every day. It's the least I can do."

Celeste nodded with a warm smile, clearly happy with the answer. And so, the two of them quietly continued eating breakfast together.
