Chapter 9 - Chapter 5: Trial of the Frost

The road stretched endlessly ahead, a ribbon of white glowing under the pale sky.

Lina followed cautiously, Kyle close behind, his eyes scanning every shadow.

"This place…" she whispered, shivering despite the warmth of her coat.

"The forest feels… alive."

Kyle nodded.

"It listens. It tests. And it remembers."

A sudden gust of wind tore through the trees.

Snow swirled violently, forming shapes—wolves, serpents, and hands reaching out of the frost.

Lina's heart raced.

"You're ready for the trial," Kyle said calmly.

"The winter chooses who passes."

Before she could react, the snow ahead thickened into a wall of ice.

Voices whispered from within it—familiar, ancient, and demanding.

Face what you fear. Claim what is yours.

The blue mark on her wrist flared, burning with energy.

Her hands formed frost as instinct took over.

With a deep breath, she stepped forward.

The ice creatures lunged.

But her frost met theirs.

The world seemed to hold its breath as powers clashed, freezing the snow midair.

One strike. One step.

One decision.

Finally, the voices fell silent.

The wall shattered.

And beyond it lay a path lined with shimmering crystals.

Lina exhaled, exhausted but alive.

Kyle smiled.

"The winter acknowledges you. But this is only the beginning."

She looked at the horizon.

And for the first time, she felt the weight of her destiny.

❄️ To be continued…
