POV: Jayjay
I was just finishing my homework when my phone buzzed.
Hex was calling. I grinned as soon as I saw his little face on the screen.
"Hi Jay!" he said, practically bouncing in his chair. "You won't believe my new school! It's huge! And the teachers… some are strict, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. And my classmates are… funny! I even have a crush!"
I laughed, teasing him. "A crush already? Who is it?"
Hex leaned closer to the camera, whispering dramatically, "It's the girl who sits next to me… she's… super smart, cute, but sometimes a bit bossy."
I froze for a second, remembering… Keifer is also my desk mate now! I couldn't help giggling at the thought. Somehow the worlds were crossing in the funniest ways.
Hex went on, chattering about his new friends, the playground, and even the weird cafeteria food.
I loved listening to him, imagining him sitting there all serious yet so small and excited.
But then I noticed something… his movements slowed, his little head drooped, and before I knew it, he had fallen asleep right on the video call, arms flopping against the desk.
I stifled a laugh. "Hex… goodnight," I whispered softly, even though he was already out cold.
Watching him like that made me smile; he was just so… adorable. After a few more seconds, I gently ended the call, set my phone aside, and lay down.
I couldn't help but think of him as I drifted off — probably dreaming about his new school, his crush, and all the adventures waiting for him.
