Chapter 22 - Nothing Special

Leo took the slip of paper, at this moment time seemed to stop, space changed. He was clearly standing inside the house but now had a feeling of emptiness. Where was he? Was this real or fake? He didn't know, didn't know anything.

This feeling was the first time he had experienced it. There was both a sense of belonging to this place and a feeling of a barrier between them.

'What's going on? Is awakening supposed to feel like this?' He was stunned, wanting to do something.

Even though he wanted to see clearly what had happened, he found that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't open his eyes. No, it wasn't that simple! To put it more clearly, he could no longer feel his own body.

His current state was extremely strange. Was he alive or dead? Why did he have this strange feeling, but when he focused, the feeling was gone?

Suddenly he could open his eyes, everything was normal, nothing strange. The slip of paper was still the slip of paper, everyone was still there, not a single person missing.

Raphael noticed a slightly strange expression on Leo's face and frowned. But after looking for a while and seeing nothing abnormal, he wasn't too worried.

The moment one becomes a contractor, there will definitely be some accompanying effect. The commotion wasn't considered big, but right in front of you, of course it could be seen clearly. Therefore, it could be inferred that Leo was just overthinking.

"See? No matter how special you are, you cannot surpass the rules because all things are born according to the rules."

Raphael suddenly spoke a very philosophical sentence, causing Leo and Michael to be stunned. Surpass the rules of the world? Only an idiot would have this kind of thought.

One's own birth is thanks to the rules, cultivation is also thanks to the rules. In other words, oneself is a part of the world. Denying the rules is denying one's own existence.

These casual words from Raphael helped these two individuals with strange backgrounds think of a new direction. Judging by Raphael's current attitude, clearly having no strange phenomenon was normal, but Leo still remembered the moment just now clearly.

"What a pity, but I believe I will find a way!"

Leo's eyes were filled with determination, moreover he had a feeling that what just happened was a hint for him. As long as he groped along the hint, he would definitely find the desired answer.

The corner of Raphael's mouth twitched slightly. Just what was this son of his so determined to do? Hadn't he made it very clear already?

The more he looked, the more annoyed he felt. He grabbed the two kids and kicked them flying out of the house, letting them do whatever they wanted.

"Ah! Damn old man!"

Two panicked screams echoed through the mountains and forests. The two 'pitiful' children were 'brutally beaten' by the adult and flew far away from the house.

Michael lay sprawled on the ground in a sorry state, his hands clutching his buttocks, his face looking like he'd just swallowed a fly.

"Is that bastard Raphael trying to kill someone? Who kicks a kid that hard?"

"Exactly, I can see the shadow of a tyrannical noble inside him. This guy must have a twisted personality and corrupted morals."

Leo followed up in agreement, clearly holding a grudge. The two of them went back and forth, one sentence after another, endlessly cursing Raphael. They cursed from him to his entire family.

They really had no shame. Raphael annoyed them once, but how many times had they driven Raphael crazy? Countless, absolutely countless. Anyway, the two had differing views and found each other annoying just by looking.

"Stop. You're cursing and it's spilling over to me." Discovering their mouths were going a bit too far, Leo immediately cut Michael off.

"Haha, I was just cursing his whole family. But coincidentally, you're his son."

Seeing Michael's teasing smile, Leo's facial muscles twitched. By now, how could he not understand that Michael was doing it on purpose?

"Alright, cut the nonsense. That old man said we can draw on anything, so let's go find a place to draw."

He stared intently at the slip of paper in his palm, secretly determined to reach that strange state again. Next time, there will definitely be a different gain, not just being stunned.

Michael immediately became serious again. He wanted to get stronger as fast as possible. Otherwise, hanging out with Leo, he'd die early for sure.

"Did you notice anything strange just now?"

"Yes, but not clearly. But judging by Raphael's reaction, perhaps we really are anomalies. It's not impossible to succeed."

Leo actually didn't know how to describe the feeling from just now. It was too bizarre, completely outside anything he had ever imagined.

"Not clearly?" Michael frowned.

Leo's experiences were probably even more numerous than his. Even if he lacked modern scientific knowledge, he wasn't poorly informed. If Leo didn't understand, it was highly likely something extremely important.

"Let me try."

He said and took the slip of paper, but unfortunately couldn't feel anything at all.

'System, did you see anything strange about Leo's state just now?'

[This cannot be clearly traced. But I can confirm it is due to Leo's special connection with this world.]

'I don't have any connection? I also came from another world like him.'

Michael felt that aside from the genie matter, the situation shouldn't be too different from Leo's.

[No, the two of you are very different. Leo was brought to this world, while you are truly an uninvited guest.]

An uninvited guest?

His eye twitched, the feeling wasn't good at all. Would an uninvited guest be dealt with? Probably not, right? It's been three years already.

That's what he thought, but he couldn't help worrying. What if he could awaken but couldn't cultivate? Then he wouldn't grow much at all.

"Feel anything special?" Leo asked, a hint of anticipation in his eyes.

If only he alone felt it, it would be hard to discuss with others, but if Michael also had that feeling, this would be extremely good.

The response to his hope was just a dejected shake of the head from Michael.
