My eyes swept across the dates on the document, cross-referencing the timeline with what I knew about Toby's age. The numbers aligned perfectly with the contract signing date. My throat constricted as the reality sank in, and I clenched my jaw to maintain control.
I sank back into my leather chair and exhaled slowly. My thoughts raced in circles, refusing to settle. Had Bella Rossi actually gone through with the pregnancy in secret? Did she choose to keep the child and raise him alone, defying the contract's terms? The woman had always been impossibly stubborn, the type to destroy herself rather than bow to anyone's demands.
