The entire business district buzzed with whispers about the Miller family's downfall. Their company had been hemorrhaging money for months, desperately clinging to deals that never materialized. I felt no remorse for seizing that opportunity. Business was business. CEO Miller had been sloppy. I had been strategic. That was the difference between winners and losers in this world. Though I could sense the disapproval from certain circles.
I had just reviewed the quarterly projections when sharp footsteps echoed through the corridor outside my office. My door burst open before Aria could properly announce the visitor.
