Chapter 4 - Breathing Life

Something began to change.

At first, Tian Yian did not understand what was happening. The warmth that had always surrounded him—soft, steady, and gentle—started to move.

Before, it had only existed around him, holding him in place. Now, it was entering him.

Slowly.

Carefully.

It felt strange.

The warmth flowed into whatever form he had, spreading little by little, as if it were filling space. It did not rush. It did not hurt. It simply moved, again and again, like a quiet tide.

It reminded him of breathing.

Not the kind of breathing he remembered from his past life, where lungs pulled air in and pushed it out. This was different. Deeper. Quieter. There was no sound. No effort.

Something invisible flowed through him, over and over, in a steady rhythm.

So this is… life, Tian Yian thought.

He did not panic.

He did not resist.

He let it happen.

As the warmth continued to flow, his mind felt clearer than before. His thoughts became calm and sharp, even though he was still only a small existence inside the womb. He felt aware in a way he never had in his past life.

Without him realizing it, something else began to move.

His Heaven-Defying Comprehension.

It did not activate loudly.

There was no voice.

No announcement.

It simply started working on its own.

Tian Yian began to understand.

The warmth was not random. It was connected to something else—the gentle rhythm around him. Slowly, he realized what it was.

His mother's breathing.

Every rise and fall was linked to the warmth flowing into him. Each invisible breath carried that warmth deeper, nourishing his forming body.

Life isn't just existing, he realized.

It's movement.

It's flow.

It's a balance.

The warmth traveled into something that felt like a heart. Then it spread into paths he could not name. It moved deeper, into bones that were still forming, into flesh that was still soft, and into something even more subtle.

Vitality.

That word appeared clearly in his mind.

His Heaven-Defying Comprehension quietly connected everything. Life was not only making him alive. It was repairing what was weak. Filling what was missing. Correcting what was broken.

This life is fixing the body, Tian Yian understood.

And breathing is the bridge.

Time passed without him noticing.

Minutes.

Hours.

Days.

The warmth slowly stopped spreading.

It did not vanish.

It settled.

The pressure around him no longer felt unstable or strange. It felt complete. Like everything was finally where it should be.

Tian Yian felt… strong.

Not strong like lifting something heavy.

Not strong like fighting.

But strong in existence.

For the first time, he felt like he truly belonged inside this body.

As that feeling settled, his Heaven-Defying Comprehension also grew quiet. It did not disappear. It simply stopped working on its own, like it was waiting.

Tian Yian was about to call out to AXIOM.

Then something strange happened.

The darkness around him changed.

It peeled away.

Suddenly, he could see.

Not with eyes.

But with understanding.

He saw something beating.

A heart.

It moved steadily, calmly. Nearby, lungs expanded and contracted in a slow rhythm. Blood flowed through vessels, smooth and steady. Everything was clear, detailed, and frighteningly real.

What…? Tian Yian froze.

Before he could react, the scene shifted.

Another heart appeared.

Another pair of lungs.

Another brain.

Different organs.

Different rhythms.

Why am I seeing two?

Fear rose in his chest for the first time since rebirth.

"AXIOM!" he called urgently. "What is this?!"

The system answered immediately.

"You have awakened the Transparent World."

Tian Yian did not feel relieved.

He felt even more confused.

"Transparent… World?" he asked.

"This ability allows perception beyond the surface," AXIOM replied calmly. "Due to the Kamado bloodline and the Life-force gift, it awakened naturally."

Tian Yian's thoughts raced.

"Then whose organs am I seeing?" he asked carefully.

"Your own," the system replied. "And your parents'."

Shock washed over him.

"My… parents?"

"Yes. Due to your developing state and proximity, perception overlap has occurred."

Tian Yian did not know what to feel.

He was not supposed to see this.

He was not supposed to know this.

He felt exposed.

Small.

And suddenly very aware of how fragile life truly was.

Slowly, the images faded.

The hearts vanished.

The lungs disappeared.

The blood and bones faded away.

The world returned to darkness.

The Transparent World closed as suddenly as it had opened.

Tian Yian stayed silent for a long time.

Then he took a deep, calming breath.

This power isn't meant for curiosity, he realized.

It's meant for understanding.

The fear slowly faded.

What remained was respect.

Time passed.

Days blended.

Then weeks.

Then months.

Six months passed quietly.

During this time, Tian Yian changed.

He grew.

Not just physically, but in awareness.

He began to sense shapes beyond the darkness. Shadows moving. Light passes through faintly. Sometimes, he felt hands resting gently near him.

He heard voices.

One was gentle, often humming or speaking softly.

The other was deeper, calm, but tired.

His parents.

Even though he could not see them clearly, he began to recognize them. Their voices. Their breathing. The rhythm of their presence.

Sometimes, the deeper voice coughed quietly.

His control over the Transparent World improved slowly. Itis no longer activated by accident. It responded when he focused.

He learned restraint.

He learned patience.

One day, a question formed in his mind.

"AXIOM," he asked quietly, "my father… there's something wrong with him, isn't there?"

There was a brief pause.

"Yes," the system replied. "He was born with a weak life force."

The words hit Tian Yian deeply.

"Like me?" he asked.

"Yes."

Silence followed.

Tian Yian did not speak after that.

He did not need to.

He understood.

A weak life force was not just an illness.

It was a quiet burden.

One carried silently.

Time continued to pass.

Tian Yian listened.

He learned.

He waited.

He was not in a hurry.

This time, he was alive.

And he intended to live fully.
