Chapter 3 - Curse Energy

A Week Before

Sugisawa Municipal High School No. 3

"By the way… what're those things eating the curse?"

Under the darkness of night, holding an unconscious girl in his arms, a pink-haired boy asked the question while pointing at two creatures made entirely of cursed energy. The shikigami were hunched over the corpse of the defeated monster, tearing into it without hesitation.

Broken glass was scattered across the floor as Itadori Yuji carefully carried his friend away from the danger zone, stepping over debris with surprising steadiness.

"They're my shikigami. You can see them?" the black-haired boy of similar age replied calmly, his hands tucked inside his pockets as if nothing unusual had happened. "Normally, people can't see curses. Exceptions are near death… or special situations. Like this one."

"Ooh… now that you mention it," Yuji said thoughtfully. "I've never seen a ghost before."

"…."

"You're not scared?" Fushiguro Megumi asked, glancing at him.

"Well, I was really scared, you know."

"Huh?"

"You know… people actually die."

"What?"

"I don't get it either," Yuji continued, scratching his head. "But anyway… if people I know are going to die, then I want them to die the best possible way. The right way."

Megumi frowned slightly but didn't respond.

Yuji reached into the unconscious girl's pocket and pulled out an object wrapped loosely in a cloth binding. Holding it up, he stared at it with curiosity.

"This is…"

"Special Grade cursed object," Megumi said sharply. "Ryomen Sukuna's finger."

"Ryo?" Yuji tilted his head in confusion.

Megumi sighed. "Forget it. Just hand it over. It's dangerous."

He stretched out his hand to take the finger back—

And froze.

A wave of primal danger washed over him. His instincts screamed.

"Run!" he shouted, pushing Yuji backward with all his strength just as a massive palm slammed down where Yuji had been standing moments earlier.

"Fushiguro!" Yuji yelled.

The divine dogs vanished into cursed mist as the giant curse grabbed Megumi and hurled him into the wall with crushing force. Concrete shattered as Megumi's body slammed into it, blood spraying across the debris.

"Hey—!"

Yuji's voice cracked as he watched the curse leap forward again, its weight obliterating the floor beneath it.

Boom!

The sturdy school structure gave way instantly.

Yuji's eyes widened as the floor collapsed, chunks of concrete falling into darkness below. Through the dust and rubble, he caught sight of someone still inside the school.

A boy.

Wearing a school uniform.

Lying beneath the collapsed floor.

Blood pooled beneath his body as debris pinned him down.

"Fuck—!"

"…and then Yuji and Megumi fought the curse," Gojo Satoru concluded casually, "after which Itadori Yuji swallowed Sukuna's finger, merged with its power, and defeated the curse."

He finished the story with exaggerated hand gestures, sitting backward on a chair, his arms resting comfortably on the backrest.

"Oof. That's it for the story."

Silence.

"So, Haruto… ah, Haruto?"

Not getting a response, Gojo leaned forward, waving his hands animatedly in front of the boy's face.

"Earth to Haruto. Earth to Haruto. Wakey-wakey."

[Sir. You should respond.]

"Oh—huh. Yeah. Yeah, I'm listening."

Haruto snapped out of his stupor, his eyes still locked onto the blindfolded man with an expression that bordered on disbelief.

"Oh, great!" Gojo clapped his hands. "So, after the fight with the curse, we brought you here and admitted you alongside the other students who were injured."

'Curses. Curse energy. Gojo Satoru. Ryomen Sukuna… fuck.'

Haruto's brain was overwhelmed.

Thanks to Great Sage's thought acceleration, he could keep up with the conversation, but emotionally, everything felt like it was crashing down on him at once.

'It's really the JJK world… Fucking hell.'

This was a world where even the protagonist barely survived.

Shibuya.

The Culling Games.

Sukuna.

'The world is fucked.'

He let out a slow mental sigh.

But the ending… Sukuna was defeated.

At least… if things go the same way.

'But will they?'

'Great Sage,' Haruto thought quietly. 'List out all your—no, my abilities.'

Two skills.

Both engraved into Haruto's soul.

Great Sage—identical to the one Rimuru possessed, acting as a hyper-advanced analytical intelligence capable of magical computation and optimization.

Curse Generator—a newly formed skill, granting him the same fundamental abilities as jujutsu sorcerers: seeing curses, sensing cursed energy, and manipulating it.

Haruto reviewed everything once more before cancelling Thought Acceleration and returning fully to reality.

"…So, as I heard from the doctors, you've lost all your memories," Gojo said, pulling an orange file seemingly out of thin air.

The fuck did that come from?

"This file contains all your information up to this point," Gojo continued cheerfully. "Here."

Haruto accepted it slowly.

"Amakawa Haruto. Born December 11, 2003. Parents—Amakawa Ren and Sendo Yuki. Younger sister—Sendo Aki."

"Parents divorced. Previously lived with father, who passed away recently. Mother refused custody. Transferred to Sugisawa Orphanage."

"Current residence—Sugisawa Orphanage. Guardian—Satoru Gojo."

"School—"

"Wait."

Haruto froze.

"…Guardian. Satoru Gojo?"

He mechanically looked up.

Gojo smiled brightly.

"Is there a problem?"

"Yes," Haruto replied flatly. "It says you are my guardian."

"Since when?"

"Since today," Gojo answered bashfully.

Haruto felt his jaw drop.

"What? Is there a problem?"

"Yes!" Haruto snapped. "There is a problem. You being my guardian."

"And?"

"What do you mean and? What the fuck does that even mean?"

"Well, it is what it is," Gojo shrugged casually. "I'm adopting you. Since you're entering the jujutsu world, it makes things easier."

"…Entering the jujutsu world?"

"It means exactly what it sounds like."

Gojo reached up and slowly lowered his blindfold.

Mesmerizing blue eyes met Haruto's black ones, sharp and impossibly clear, as a confident grin spread across his face.

"Don't you notice it yourself, Haruto?" Gojo said calmly. "The power radiating from you."

As his words fell, Haruto felt it.

A subtle shift.

The air inside the room changed—pressure thickened, invisible yet undeniable, as if something vast had awakened and was now breathing alongside him.

"I don't know what your life was like before the accident," Gojo continued, his voice steady. "But at least now… you should be able to feel it."

He leaned forward, raising both hands.

Blue light ignited around his palms.

Not flames, yet not quite light—raw, violent energy that shimmered and flowed endlessly, filling the room with overwhelming presence. The radiance reflected off the walls, the floor, even Haruto's eyes as his chest tightened instinctively.

"Cursed Energy," Gojo said softly.

His gaze locked onto Haruto, sharp and knowing.

"You can feel it, can't you… Amakawa Haruto?"
