Chapter 1 - A Night That Never Ended

My name is Manoj, and this is the story of a girl named Neha—

a girl who was in my life for just one night,

yet has lived in my heart for a lifetime.

Some people stay with you for years and leave no mark.

Others come for a few hours and change you forever.

Neha was that kind of miracle.

It was a quiet winter night, the kind where the city feels tired and lonely.

I was sitting alone at a small café near the bus stand, waiting for a bus that was already late. Life felt stuck—dreams paused, hopes uncertain.

That's when I saw her.

Neha walked in with a light scarf around her neck and tired eyes that still carried warmth. She ordered coffee and sat at the table next to mine. We didn't speak at first, but fate has its own language.

When the lights flickered and the café owner apologized, she smiled and said softly,

"Looks like even the city wants us to talk."

That smile started everything.

We talked for hours—about life, dreams, childhood, heartbreaks.

She told me she believed some people meet only once, but that meeting is enough.

I laughed then, not knowing how true those words would become.

Neha had a calm voice, but her words were deep.

She listened like no one ever had.

For the first time in years, I didn't feel invisible.

That night, we walked under empty streetlights. The cold air, the silence, and her presence made time slow down.

She held my hand—not tightly, not nervously—just gently, as if she already knew she would have to let go.

There were no promises.

No "forever".

No plans for tomorrow.

Just us, and a love that felt strangely complete.

She rested her head on my shoulder and whispered,

"Some stories are beautiful because they don't last."

I didn't understand then.

I understand now.

Morning came too soon.

At the bus stand, Neha hugged me. No tears. Just a long, silent embrace.

Before leaving, she said,

"Remember me when you believe in love again."

And then she was gone.

No number.

No address.

No social media.

Just a name—Neha.

I've met many people since then.

Some stayed. Some left.

But no one ever replaced her.

Sometimes, late at night, I still imagine her sitting beside me, smiling the same way. I wonder where she is, if she's happy, if she ever thinks of that night.

Maybe she was never meant to stay.

Maybe she came just to teach me how deeply I could feel.
