Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Echoes of the Past

Chris leaned against the edge of the rooftop, looking over the city. Tokyo sprawled beneath him, chaotic as ever. His hands flexed around empty controls.

"Damn… we no longer have my pilots," he muttered.

"I miss Mecha Dead End," he added quietly, almost to himself.

Maya stood beside him, arms crossed. "I feel sorry for you."

Suddenly, a high-pitched shout pierced the air.

"Haiiii, Maya!!!"

Maya spun around, eyes wide. "YOGURUMA!!! What are you doing here?"

Chris froze mid-step. "Wait a mi—"

Yoguruma Mugen stumbled forward and clutched his stomach dramatically, groaning.

Maya laughed, covering her mouth. "Seriously, you never change."

Chris shook his head, a faint grin forming. "Oh my goodness… okay, I'm sorry, Yoguruma. I'm heading to Tokyo City."

He walked down the crowded streets, alert. Something felt off. And then he saw it—a man aggressively harassing a young girl, demanding money.

Chris's eyes narrowed. "What the hECK."

The man turned, noticing the presence behind him.

"Hm? Something… noise?"

Before he could react further, Chris's knife was already drawn. In one precise, merciless motion, the blade severed the man's neck. He collapsed, lifeless.

The girl screamed, then quickly covered her mouth. "OH MY GOD! Thank you… you saved my life!"

Chris nodded, expression neutral. "Be careful. Don't stay alone."

His communicator buzzed. Buddha's voice echoed sharply.

"Yes? What do you want?" Chris answered.

"Chris… I didn't kill Mecha Dead End," Buddha said, tone steady but urgent. "I only ejected him into a different universe. I… I don't even know what's happening there now."

Chris clenched his fist. "So he's alive… somewhere else. And stronger. Great. Just what I needed."

Maya placed a hand on his shoulder. "Looks like trouble doesn't take a vacation."

Chris exhaled. "Nope. And it's coming for us… sooner or later."

Above the city, shadows shifted. Somewhere far away, Azadeadthoendth's presence rippled through the multiverse, and the next conflict had already begun.
