Chapter 1 - 1. Asenscion Online

"The highly anticipated VRMMORPG game Asenscion online goes on sale at eight o'clock tonight" the middle aged female news anchor announced with face of pure eager. Her news anchor sat to the right of her a younger male added "after 10 years of development, over 500 million pounds invested by many companies..." the voice faded into the distance as Bellamy's fragile body slowly made his way upstairs.

Reaching the 3rd floor he entered his room, opening the door revealed the large room, the grey painted walls covered by the posters of many bands and video games, he had a large king sized bed pushed up to the wall facing his television, the corner held a plethora of wardrobes all filled with the latest clothes and shoes and in the opposite corner was a wide L shaped gaming desk holding a high tech Computer able to run all of the highest graphics and 3 monitors.

Any normal person looking at this room could only imagine a having a room this large, let alone the bed and the rest of it. But Bellamy wasn't a normal person from young he was always different, yes he was smarter and more intelligent than others but what made him different was his condition, osteogensis imperfecta or more commonly known as Glass bones disease. While his condition wasn't as bad as others with the same disease who could break bones by simply coughing or rolling over in their sleep, Bellamy still couldn't do what he wanted with no worries.

Even with millions of dollars of funding from his family the Snowblooms it was to no avail all he could do was live with the condition.

'There's still another 15 minutes till the release' Bellamy thought looking down at his phone. 'Might aswell check for any last minutes tips' walking towards his bed he moved the VR headset out of the way. Now laying he opened his phone opening tiktok he began to scroll through videos discussing Asenscion online, they all pretty much said the same thing look out for special quests or items called either Deity or Hero. The forums were the same discussing any theorised classes or races in the game.

Deity and Hero items and quests were a big thing in this game they could give special rewards and skills. Even with its popularity growing exponentially by the day there were no leaks to gameplay features or even beta testers to leak information with the only person having rumoured to play the game being the creator himself Mercer Alejandro

In the blink of an eye time passed and the game was less than 30 seconds from release, Bellamy was sat ready VR headset on and the game loaded up ready waiting for it to release.

Suddenly a notification popped up, 'enjoy your time and ascend the ranks player', Bellamy winced his eyes with the bright light near blinding him before his body fell into a slumber of sorts.

He woke up inside of what looked to be a character selection screen, infront of him was a few options, Race, Class and clothing. Reading through the Races and Classes he realised there was much more to this game than he thought, every class came with a subclass and races had their very own weapons which they could choose to start with and a special stat that compliments their class.

Before he could begin choosing he had to choose his name he already had this in mind having chosen it many times before in other game 'Wspox', 'now time to choose my class and race' he thought.

It had already been 40 minutes most players were probably inside the game already but Bellamy sat there looking everything over again for what was probably the third time. He couldn't decide while he already had a few classes in mind and races he wanted to know what the races special effects were and what the classes special stats were, then he had a thought which turned into an idea.

"Interface" he spoke aloud.

A white interface popped up infront of him

He pressed onto help, scrolling down to Races he read through it all including the Sub races, he decided to choose the shadow demon race able to travel through shadows when not in combat as a passive ability also coming with a skill [Shadow Strike] even with the cool down of a 180 seconds, the chance to always get a guaranteed hit as long as your faster was to good an option to pass up on.

Next was his class, he wanted something to work well with his race, of course they had to work well as a fast paced character so it was down too three Assasin, Ninja or Thief. He didn't like the idea of his special stat just improving how well he can rob players or NPCs and the Ninja while it did seem interesting their starting weapons were quite boring and he assumed that everybody would choose the Katana over the kunai or the claws. That left only one, the Assasin class, the special stat was quite good being [Momentum- 0%] passively increases his speed. His combos and attacks become more fluid with every stat point invested.

It only took a little over an hour and he finally chose his class and race, shortly after choosing Assasin a pop-upp came on his screen 'choose your weapon' he read internally. Before him sat 3 weapons, Twin daggers, hidden blade and dual kamas. He instantly knew what he wanted, without a second thought he chose the dual kamas, the pop-upp soon closed followed by another pop-upp 'assign your stat points'

He decided to leave out Charm, he read through the game that people can open and people can buy and sell items through the guild.

Finally all was left was the clothing, he already had an outfit in mind since some of the information they did release on the game was some of the clothing options they're given.

He chose a black medieval stealth outfit made of cloth and leather, a hooded tunic, light leather armour on the arms, a leather belt with a pouch attached a pair of tall boots and loose trousers. This would maximise movement but would still slightly protect him.

After a long 1 hour 32 minutes he gets to okay the game, most players would take maybe 20 minutes on their characters but nope, not him.

After choosing the option to finalise his character, another bright flash happened blinding him for a moment, closing his eye, in reaction, the light began to fade, he could feel the light breeze on his face and the warmth of the air. Opening his eyes he was greeted with the busy town square.

The town was packed with players, all rushed around the cobblestone path, merchants shouted deals, blacksmiths hammered away, players entered and exited the armouries. Boots thudded and swords clanged, laughter and excitement filled the air, players were stood in what looked to be a training range of sorts trying out skills and combo and players shouted "looking for a healer" and "looking for a paladin" they seemed to be trying to make a team of sorts. This place was bustling with energy and excitement.
